I have a recent order from my US supplier which they shipped my package of 21lbs via UPS. They charged me USD 82.73 which I thought very expensive. But when I went through the websites you mentioned here like VIAddress and VPost, their shipping charge is still more expensive than my supplier charged me. So I wonder if I should just remain as it is...

i think the charge of USD 82.73 for 21 lbs is quite reasonable. where did you buy items with such shipping cost?

My supplier is an US-based book distribution company: Ingram Content Group. Guess I'll just stick to their shipping service. biggrin.gif

Btw, from the UPS tracking service, my supplier ship to me using UPS Worldwide Saver. I heard UPS is the most expensive courier service in US, followed by Fedex and DHL. Not sure whether it's true or not.

21 lbs = 9.5 kg
With comgateway, regular account costs you:

First 0.5 kg = US$ 20.75
Every additional 0.5 kg = US$ 3.25

Total for your parcel, shipped with DHL might be:

(1x20.75) + (18x3,25) = USD 79.25

The shipping cost you posted here doesn't include fuel surcharge and other fees like insurance, duties and custom clearance fee right?

Recently I have a shipment of 4 packages ship by comGateway via DHL. But 2 of my packages was mistakenly delivered to Kuching sorting facility, now I have to wait after Raya in order to receive my package! Is DHL that bad?

Thanks for telling! I used Comgateway recently and had a painful experience with DHL. Think I'll switch to usgobuy. rclxms.gif

I just checked with the shipping rates on usgobuy and I found out the shipping cost a bit way to high.

Previously I had 4 packages (16 kg in total) at ComGateway shipped using DHL, including the insurance, surcharge, consolidation fee etc, the cost is USD 134.20.

But when I use the shipping calculator at usgobuy to check for 16kg, I got the following figure:
DHL Express USD 241.48
USPS Express Mail USD 231.89
USPS Priority Mail USD 193.43

for comgateway, they normally calculate the shipping charges based on weight or the package dimension? i had the viaddress shipped to me before and they calculated based on the dimension weight and the shipping fees were so expensive
*
No matter ComGateway or Viadress, all shipping companies uses two ways to calculate your shipping fees: actual weight or volumetric weight.

Take mine as example, I shipped my son's toy (a large garbage bin truck) back to Malaysia. The actual weight of the toy is roughly 3.5kg, but the size of the carton is so big that the volumetric weight is 14kg. So the shipping fee will be charged based on 14kg, not 3.5kg. Luckily ComGateway offers me a repack service that they helped to decrease the volumetric weight to 4kg. smile.gif

Hope this explains.

so based on what you say, looks like comgateway is a much better option than viaddress? how's your opinion on this?
*
I never use Viaddress before so I cannot comment more. But does Viaddres offer you a repack service?

they do offer repack service. but  they seem to choose the largest box to repack all my stuff, causing the shipping fees sky high
*
Then I have no idea on this. What is the item you're shipping anyway? And which courier service did they use? Mine they used DHL to ship.

i bought a portable fishing stool for my dad and some clothes. they use fedex to ship my items... the price was high even after repacking
*
I think your problem with high shipping fees maybe because of the volumetric weight of the fishing stool even after repack. And if not mistaken, Fedex's fees is higher than DHL.
