i also have this problem when i try to OC my KVR from DDR3 1333 to DDR3 1700 or above, CL9...

if CL8, I will have problem when reaching DDR3 15xx.

if CL7, I will have problem when reaching DDR3 14xx.

The lesser ram detection problem only occurs when I run my ram out of spec. But still can OC, luckily didnt buy high end expensive ram for the board. Seems the board not so good in Ram OC.

Just bought my brand new DFI DK x58 for RM690 only
I think P6T is RM850. Btw KVR 1333Mhz CL9 3GB also sometimes appeared as 1GB on my old P6T too.
It could be compatibility issues btween the mobo & RAM.

i just did some testing last night..

it seems there was some problem with the ram..

this is what i did

1st i oced the rams to 1800mhz

and then the usual problem it says only 2gb of ram available via bios..

next i tried to unplug one by one to see which one is making problem.. and hence i found one bad ram..

then i tested all the slots with the good ram just to see whether its a mobo or ram problem.. and there you go..

its a ram problem.. i think..

gonna test with memtest tomorrow

Last time I also swapped the rams between the slots to make it work.
no ram error though.

i really have no idea now.. last night i conducted a test again..

1804mhz @ 9-9-9-27-2N @ 1.66v
UCLK V @ 1.35
VCORE @ 1.28750
IOH n ICH @ 1.2

successful boot at 2gb only.. actual ram 1024MB*3

Test Passed
--------------
Memtest86+

superpi failed at 32mb loop 4..

the stability doesnt matter..

my curiosity is more towards the incorrect ram size shown

OS Windows 7 64bit..

lol... gotto agree p6t quite picky for ram and lousy in ram OC.

But during the old days, p6t were one of the bang of buck board with SLI + CF, but not now especially all those DKs year end clearing sales. I might wait till next year for the new DK with USB 3.0 before swapping my p6t since not so worth if go for DK now juz for additional OC headroom without any new features like USB 3.0.

so for all p6t user better not invest too heavily on good ram... tongue.gif feel the frustration of TS after invest in good ram.
