Anyone looking to get 1080p projector at great price? I just found out Amazon is offering Benq W6000 at USD 2000. You need to use Vpost for delivery and currently vpost is offering 20% shipping fee until end of this year. The total + shipping should be less than RM 8k. My friend just get one unit from ProjectorPeople.com at USD 2499 + USD 290 shipping. The picture had lot of pop and 3d feel to it.

Good price. IIRC, no tax on projectors right?

Is it also 230V compatible?

if getting projector from US anyway (2+k range)... maybe you can consider these contenders

AE-4000
sony HW15
epson 8500

some idea here... my money on AE-4000 or 8500 ...

(I guess the prices should have dropped since the article has been written in oct09)

and more poison here....

No tax and it is dual voltage 110v to 240v. Just put my order in for W6000. Been considering between AE4000 and W6000 and decided to go for W6000 due to the extra brightness and the latest firmware had solve the iris issue. I'm a DLP guy. I still feel LCD and LCOS picture a bit soft compare to DLP. I believe local AE4000 is not going to be cheap and follow UK pricing which is around RM 11k.

I feel projector central review a bit bias. I would trust projectorreviews by Art. He even answer my question when compare W6000 to HD82 based purely on picture quality, he advised to pick W6000.

It all depends on your preferences. If you are black level fanatic, then go for AE4000 or even better RS20 or RS25. I wouldn't recommend RS10 or RS15 due to the color gamut issue which is over BT 709 and can't be tuned due to lack of CMS. If you like very sharp image with good 3d pop, then go for DLP projector.

Here's the review with comparison to other projector within the price range. W6000 initial street price is around USD 2.7k (3 months ago).

I dunno.. buying this w6000 is like buying Hyundai sonata or kia optima.. biggrin.gif

somehow I rather stick with Camrys and Accords..

my Accord (AE-900 aged quite well... 3years and still got spare bulb unused) so maybe Ae-4000 is the way to go for me... thumbup.gif

My friend upgrade from AE900 to W6000. According to his comment, the pq upgrade is very drastic. AE-900 is more like toyota altis smile.gif.

No doubt the PQ is much better now. The W6000 (and other current models) is a few generations ahead of the AE900.

come on la.. how can AE-900 be altis? it's not in the same generation.... end 2005 vs end 2009... 3-4 generation differences in projector lifecycle...

the AE-900 would be the same class as the AE-4000... they are in the 2k class price range when new..

If based on price, benq always more expensive than panasonic. So it's more like VW vs Toyota then.

SVGA projector = compact car
720p projector = mid size car
1080p projector = full size car

Make sense? whistling.gif

yup PC parts are pretty competitive if stay in mainstream products... and have big importer bringing in by volume, and supporting those brands..
