this avr got video scaler from Faroudja, can only do analog video conversion

Not sure about the model you are referring to, but PDA-V100 HD, which also have Faroudja chipped is a piece of crap with serious chroma delay. I can only imagine the same would happen to this model.
If you want a more affordable upscaler you could try DVDO Edge, the cheapest from the Anchor Bay family. |

Low or high end it doesn't matter, it seems to me Pioneer doesn't know how to utilize good chips in their AVR systems
