Samsung offer 2 years for part and labor and even for its LCD panel, while Panasonic offer 3 years warranty on its LCD TV range (correct if i am wrong)

What if
1) the back-light of the LCD TV got spoil,
2) dead pixel appear on the LCD TV,
3) can't turn on LCD TV

so will SONY honor their warranty?

All bravia carries 2 years warranty and hence parts and labour charge included within the 2 years, regardless of component. The only thing that the warranty doesn't cover is mishandled and natural disaster (ie water spills, damaged by fire etc)

When you purchase extended warranty, take note there is 2 kind of warranty.

1) Insurance plan offered by shop:
they called it "warranty" anyway but it is actually an insurance policy plan. Whenever your electrical appliances screwed up, you basically have to send you appliance for repair (might be a third party technician, not from the official product service centre), then the charges you have to submit a claim from the insurance company. If Insurance company gulung tikar, so does ur "warranty".

2) Sony extended warranty plan:
Basically its the same as the 2 years warranty, but now optionally extended to 5 years. If you sign up this extended warranty at sony style for 5 years, they included the all risk insurance protection for you FOC.

1) Backlight spoiled normally will be covered and be replaced within warranty period. However, backlight dimming (which is universal across all LCD) is not covered. The backlight module can last up to 60k or 100k before dimming to half of its brightness and this is under wear and tear and thus not covered under warranty

2) Official sony's claim is 6 pixel and above for dead pixels. However, this is much depends on the situation and negotiation skill. From my experience, to cover their reputation, they normally will replace even with lesser than 6 dead pixel,

3) Most often of this situation might be due to power button failure/power supply/circuit board fried. This is covered but depends on situation as well. For example, if they determined that the TV fried due to lightning, you might be out of luck.
