Hey guys, don't know if you heard this yet. In US there's this new service called onlive

The idea of onlive is
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

To summarised, the main idea is to stream the video onto the PC/Mac/Tv. So all the information of the game is stored onto the servers and the processing is done at the servers before the image is streamed to the screen. So you can play crysis on ultra settings as long as you have a blazing fast internet.

Of course there will be alot of complications, heck i don't think i can name them all, things like price will be a main factor. Will we have to buy the individual titles itself? (i mean since all most of us get ours from our good friend jack) Would we pay for this service even if we have super fast internet? I can imagine this service would be quite costly, unless the games are bombarded by advertisements.

On the upside, this means those using laptops/computers would not have to install anything thus clogging up our, oh-so-precious-and-ever-running-out hdd space. This could also mean we can use google's chrome OS to play the latest titles. (8 seconds to start gaming! drool.gif)

Imho, if the pricing and infrastruture is there, I would definately go for this service. What about you guys?

Assuming the infrastructure exist in Malaysia, I will NOT go for this service as I prefer to own physical copies of the game. I enjoy the owning the actual item.

lol miahahhaha i'm afraid to tell you the truth. The infrastruture in uk is almost like malaysia. I'm using virgin internet, the best internet provider in the UK, and my line frequently breaks....

but think about it, demos will be instantanous, no need download anything.

I thought of another point.

This service provider will then have to get support from console game makers (let's not talk about pc game here) in order to attract console fans. And that would mean console makers will have to make ps3 + 360 + online version. And we know what that means...

Personally I prefer that will not happen.

its not just about the bandwidth, but the latency will definitely kill the fun

let's just take the input lag for instance, its more than enough to scrap the whole vision

this thing is like IPTV, they have to become an ISP themself, then only integrate this GameOnDemand (GOD) into their infrastructure, they can't implement the service on top of other 3rd party ISP.. definitely not the viable way

old news... yawn.gif thanks for sharing anyway

most of the major game developer will welcome it, but most of game player like me will not like it, why?

onlive = no cheap 2nd hand games
it will kill the 2nd hand game market, where most of the people like source for their games

OnLive? Let me think....
Slow Streamyx+HD streaming+too much lag+subscription I don't want to pay for+MORE LAG=wut

Chill controller+good games+decent online play+PHYSICAL games=Xbox 360 and PS3.

i for one would NOT WANT this service.
i prefer to have a physical form of whatever things that i buy..
hence things like PSPGo is a no go for me.
cloud processing is taking the world by the storm, but let's leave that to google to monopolize.
