Hi.

I went to a government hospital lately and applicable to get an
Medical Check up (MC). When I ask the doctor
for the Sijil Cuti Sakit (MC), she said that "Oh tonite sudah malam
and we won't issue the MC at night." That time was around 9pm
and the reason why I preferred night time to meet the doctor
is because to avoid crowded of patients in the day time.

Long story short, I went to the other government hospital and
had the treatment at 11pm on the same night and got the MC for
3 days for rest without asking much.

Anyway, where I can find the requirement of government doctor
to issue MC for patient ACT which is state down that there is
NO TIME LIMITATION for a Sijil Cuti Sakit (MC) to be released
for particular the day.

Thank you.

*Doctors are welcome for an opinion/idea.

Depends actly..
The ritez 4 MC is for the doctor to give out and not u 2 demand actly..
I'm being blunt here since i know u r smart by saying u have no ritez 2 demand 4 MC..
Doctors see fit only to give MC to those who they deemed reli sick..
Their definition of deemed might be vague but i think, its safe 2 say, its their ritez whether want 2 issue u mc or not..
And no, i never hear b4 a doctor tellin their patient that MC can give only during day tyme..
I might go on a limp n saying that the doc might be lazy though..
Not suprising..
Btw, THERE'S NO SUCH THINGS CALLED TIME LIMITATION 2 GIVE OUT MC~~
If i recalled correctly..
this is juz my thoughts la..

there is no time limit in giving out mc.

but doctor dont simply give out mc, they give for patient who needs rest or really sick. one other common reason why doctor give out mc is because of long waiting time to see the doctor, so there no point to go to work again that day.

in my opinion, the 1st doctor may think u dont have any serious problem, and thinks u can work on the following day, that why he didnt issue a mc, not because its night. but if u say that u have miss ur job that morning because of the illness, i think the doctor would issue a mc for that day...

that is why. I called one of my indian friend who is medical officer
working in GH taiping and told me that there is NO time limitation
to issue a MC for particular date.

but i still need an act so that if any
doctors argue with me again, i can ask them to read the rules and
regulation via the printed papers.

Yes, it's probably just an excuse he made up to get rid of you. Because he didn't want to get into an argument with you on whether you deserve an mc or not.

I fractured my wrist, and turned up at GH-KL at 9pm. By the time I saw the doctor, it was past 10pm. He put my arm in a cast, and gave me a weeks' MC, with an appointment to come at the end of the week.

If the doctor says you should go to work, you should adopt Japanese work ethics. Even if you can't work, you turn up anyway, and spend the whole day hardly doing anything. Don't think of it as spreading your illness. Think of it as spreading immunity.

MC can also be given back dated. and you must take your MC seriously. if you got MC and your boss force you to work, if anything happen, the insurance company (including socso or car insurance) will not cover you.

back dated mc is not allowed actually... it is strongly against medical ethics teaching. if kantoi the doctor can be penalized also, like selling mc

MC has no time limitation.

It is doctor's preference to give or not to, coz there's actually many tom and jerry who visits the emergency department at 3am in the morning just to get MC to avoid work the following day.

Those back dated MC is a no-no, unless the doctor reli kelong wan.

I duno about other hospitals but penang GH, well before the h1n1 scare, emergency do not accept minor cases such as flu @ fever, hence less MC given out at night. You can imagine currently how many ppl come to hospital after working hours just for a simple cold and to get a MC.

Hi,
actually giving out MC is the doctor's prieveledge
doctors should take real care when giving out mc
i know of i senior doctor few years ago, doing part time in a private clinic
dont know reporter which newspaper doing a scoop on MC given by private clinic
the reporter act like typical malaysian asking for mc with no valid reason
"paid" for the mc
walla the doctor was penalised and struct his name of MMC registry of licensed doctors
Malaysia is part of commonwealth and the doctor now cannot work in any commonwealth country ever again
so the doctor refuse to give mc for u
I state of sickness severity is relative. if in private clinic doctors hardly see very ill people. in govt hospital emergency department they see a lot of very sick people. so seeing a common cold vs many other severe illness in one day, how u feel if u r in the doctor's shoes
my doctor friend told me no time limitation. if give mc 1 day have to give same date. u 9 pm aldy so same day only if giving u 1 day (passed working hour, not carried next day).
1 mc only max 30 days. more 180 days in seccession your boss can "medical board u" (sack u)
cheerios
