hi guys

i've been using iphone for a while nw.i am getting bored with it...thinking of changing to android OS. any advice?

how much u bought for magic??? I like magic more than hero~ Some forumers suggest that it cost only RM1.4k... and yes andriod is much better than iphone as in functionality, but not the smoothness.. ><I'm way bored of winmo!!!

hmm if buy straight from htc its 1600 but other seller maybe cheaper i ask around lowyat forum, the lowest i got is 1480 i think

umm you can cuztomize the rom and theme and background while iphone what you buy is what you get

Currently the latest is Hero. However there are quite a few expected to be available on Q1 2010.
I personally think it's worth the wait.

There have been quite some discussion on this matter around the net, even in this forum I think.

However, let me put it this way.
The main difference between iPhone and Android, for normal 'non-hard core non-geek non-nerdy' consumers, is the applications.
iPhone's app store offers a lot of apps, especially in the game's department. But my statement may expire very soon. Android's Market has been expanding fast, with a lot of applications and games coming, with growth of 35-50% per month. However, Malaysia consumers currently have no access to the Market, and I'm not sure if we ever are getting it. Rooting, ie 'jailbraking' your Android will solve this issue.
So 2010 is a vital year for Android.

Customization, as in we can customise how the phone looks like as we like it. Well I think iPhone can customise just after jailbraking it.

Multitasking. You can have two or more apps running at once, and, yes, the newer phones expected to be launched will have the capabilities (actually even the current phones can).

The above are the advantages/differences of Android, compared to iPhone.

Many would claim that iPhone's smoother than Android in the operation, this is true in some way, but not all.
Android's operation can be quite fast too, and again, given the potential of upcoming phones, I'm quite confident that the upcoming Android will be as smooth, if not better, than iPhone.

There are a lot more that you can compare, but the final choice is yours. Google it, and you can discover more!

Come to Android thread and ask which one is better....

RM2399 is the RRP, but you can get as low as RM2250 in Lowyat Plaza, the last I asked.

i got ipod touch and htc hero

htc hero is much more complicated if u like to customize your hp then u should go to htc hero android platform...

iphone is like buying as what u get...u get what u buy..all ready all in one...
ans ready to go..no issue and so ever..

app apple got alot
android market u need to root it only u will have it..

iphone got 32gb
htc hero max i think 8 or 16 only..

definitely is up to ur preference,TS....
if u fancy something juz buy & go then Iphone 3G/3Gs is ur option.
if u like to hacking,something like flashing rom,customize interface,wifi tethering....u can even do more than Iphone bcoz Android is Open Source....

Wifi tethering is the best thing of all for android...

You can share among multi user for going online...

android is way much moe bored then iphone

Currently, App Store is superior to Android Market.

if u're compared stock to stock form, undoubtly android is bored then Iphone....
but when u flash into those custom rom build by XDA guys, its entirely different story.
u can safely flash into several custom rom with ur liking thanks to recovery image

unlike Iphone which is permanently fixed only different version ROM more likely upgraded version.

+1 .. its variety .. and alots of Dev Custom ROM .. not just ROM
u can change ur boot image , splash screen , icon .. and variety choices of theme .. when it comes to open source OS there is no way u will get bored easily if u choose the ROOT/UNLOCKED path .. as normal human being .. i hate limitation like those iPhoney thingy

It's quite subjective actually, Coming from an iphone user, you don't play around with the rom actually. You Jailbreak and you install all those whacky customizations; Practically you can customize plenty of things. Screw up? just restore. There are tonnes of customizations out there. & yes you can run multiple software simultaneously, and you can do what others can do, IF you JAILBREAK. This is somewhat same as you try to root your android.

To me both device would win on it's own turf and no doubt, this would be a long debate and die hard fan boys would pour out all their might. Here's my view on android. Android is great on social networking. It can link all the famous social network and integrate with the system backbone. You don't need to fiddle or update your phone book details. If someone from your facebook updates his phone number, you will get the update instantaneously. It's like a genie working in the background while you enjoying the services. This main thing which iphone doesn't offer.

I would rate the google offerings good on andriod. Till today, I still yearn streetview to be utilized on other platform. It's exclusive on android. HTC sense widget is a great tool on customizing all the necessary widget and lets you view and update you with short precise information, without the need of reading long boring news. Mail is well presented. As found in HTC sense, brief emails particualar can be viewed from the widget without the need on launching the mail apps. What android lacks is eyecandy and at some point you would find the icons are somewhat old school, just like those 256 color in windows 95. Apps wise, there is no doubt apple rein champ. BUT, counting by the offerings and the amount of free apps available, the future is bright on android and it wouldn't be long to find the andriod market to be the champ.

Finally, I would say, both are equally good phones. Android offers variety of hardware platform, that means you will never get bored with the same design. Also some models come with physical qwerty. Good if you do not wish to leave plenty of smudges on your beloved screen. Last not least, there what andriod wins over iphone is widgets. you get tonnes of widget to move about. On a JB iphone, those widget are somewhat not that eyecatching but nevertheless it's presentable.
