i also has an acer aspire 4520 (turion x2 2.0ghz,2gb RAM, 120gb hdd, nVidia 7000M) since 2.5yrs ago. was rather satisfied with the laptop except for its dismal gaming performance.
tried playing Torchlight at 800x600, netbook mode, minimal detail, but it still lags at times.

so i tried OC-ing with nTune :
CPU :2.4Ghz (FSB : 240mhz)
AGP : 3000mhz (up from 2500mhz)
GPU core : 550mhz (up from 350mhz)
GPU mem : 700mhz (up from 0mhz)

then i played Torchlight again, and at 1200x800, normal mode, minimal detail, i am able to get acceptable 30~ fps. this made the game so much more playable and enjoyable! the in-game graphics are sharper than 800x600!

so far it was stable, i haven't had any crashes, reboots or freezes. no artifacts observed.

temperatures after OC aren't too high:

CPU : 50 - 69 C
GPU : 56 - 70 C

i removed the bottom cover (hdd,Northbridge, cpu) though, and put a cheap laptop cooler underneath it. Also i reapplied thermal paste on the GPU (northbridge) a couple of days ago to help heat dissipation.

i'm very happy with my laptop right now. my next target is to play Devil May Cry 4 with my laptop (like this guy right here http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=alex007600) smile.gif

thanks!
you got a problem to reach 2.4ghz probably because the default clockspeed of ur processor is 1.9ghz while mine is 2.0ghz. when i push my processor to 2.45ghz, it reboots itself. so 2.4ghz is maximum for my processor.

yeah, 550mhz for gpu clock is the max for mine too. when i push it to 555mhz, the computer freezes.

yeah, i'll keep you posted smile.gif

btw, what video driver are you using? i'm using 169.44.

Added on June 15, 2010, 4:42 pmyep, managed to play devil may cry 4 on my 4520. it ran very smoothly, haven't experienced any lags yet biggrin.gif
