well, choosing brazil will allow you to use your credit card to purchase wii points online for the wii ware games (as it is the only country without physical points found at stores)
as for bricking the wii, 4.2 may brick it
the reason is because 4.2 has an NAND update which cleans your system (even if it does not have HBC)...and if there was some connection problems with your wii and the internet...you will brick your wii
otherwise, it is safe to update
have fun...=D

well, for the bricking story...if you don't have a modded wii, ninty will always be ready to give you a new one if the 4.2 update brick happened to you, so no worries DP
anyway...i do hope that you can sort out your wiiconnect24 issues asap though...
and if you finally manage to connect to the internet, remember to always power off your wii when not in use(and not in standby mode)...as your wii may overheat for connecting to connect24 in standby mode for long periods of time

haha, technically, it doesn't hurt to turn off your power altogether as there isn't anything important for you to leave your wii turned on 24 hours right?
well...i do switch off the power source and not just the wii only...so...it's your liking to do whichever method which suits you i guess...but well...just be sure to check that your wii led is in red color if you put it in standby mode...and you should be fine
