Good day !

Have anyone here came across this CC promotion from HLB :-

Is it worth to go for ? When most of the time you plan to purchase items but planning to make it on an installment scheme with interest free method.

Thanks ~

What do you mean by healthy bank statement?  hmm.gif

I believe its not blacklisted with heavy debts or loan that yet to be cleared and inconsistent payment schedule ? unsure.gif

Does anyone here knows how to enable the feature like Mastercard Secure Code when you are using Online Credit Card payment - just for security purpose ?
Does VISA comes with such feature too ?

Thank you.

You don't have full control over this feature - couple of conditions need to exist ...
1. The bank need to support it
2. The payment gateway asks for it.

The system will prompt you for the code when the payment gateway demands for it, otherwise it doesn't ask for this code. If you have not enabled it, the bank will ask you to enter a new code.

VISA has a similar system like Mastercard and NO you don't have full control over this system.

Why are you so worried about fraud ? I have used cc without this feature for years and no fraud occurs if you are careful to visit and buy from reputable online retailers. FYI, sometimes fraud occurs when your cc details leaks internally. The best secured system in the world is useless if the internal retailer staff themselves are scheming to abuse your cc. I got hit by this twice - both times from a reputable telco in Malaysia. (At least that is what the bank told me of their suspicion) And I manage to dispute and win the case in my favor without any hassle.

Thanks for the prompt reply over my inquiry. Really appreciate for sharing your experience ..
I believe at the end of the day - the payment gateway or the site that we plan to use the credit card for payment has to be trusted ones.

In addition to hye's reply... some banks automatically pre-enrolled the credit cards for Verified by Visa (VbV) or MasterCard SecureCode.  Check their website for info or option/page to setup a password or code for your CC.  If it's pre-enrolled, the security feature that you can only add is a PIN code for your credit card.

Example:  MBF card - When you login to your online CC account, you have the option to activate and create password/activate the MC SecureCode.
PBB already pre-enrolled, you only add personal PIN
MBB - login to m2u then proceed to Maybankard Secure Online Shopping Registration

Thank you for your prompt reply. smile.gif
I am currently using HLB VISA Card .. I don't think I can find the option of activating the Secure Code feature on my Online Banking service. Anyway, will double confirm with the CSR on this ..

Really appreciate for sharing your experience.

Did you know you will not entitle to 20 days interest-free for all your transaction if you didn't clear off the amount due in statement?
*
The Total Amount Due ?
I thought some of the bank mentioned that with the Minimum payment of RM50 or 5% (whichever is higher) .. will do ?
Correct me if I'm wrong.

do i need to call to cc center to activate my sony cc and amex card?
*
Preferably .. as its much safer to do it that way instead of calling through the Electronic Answering Server to do the activation. Just to avoid any miscommunication and problem from happening ..

But they have been pre-activated.

Really ? Maybe its only from MBB. My HLB seems to be the other way round .. need to activate. They recommend us to call in to the Automated Activation by keying in the CC numbers and some other details. To my surprise is - once I have done with that procedure. My Card got blocked .. and they said suspect of fraud and pending my activation. It took me almost half day with numerous of calls to Customer Service, CC Agent and Credit Control department to solve the case. mellow.gif

Your mailer should have mentioned if it requires activation. So far, I'm only aware that DA needs to do so.
Really got such difference between self-pick at the branch and mail to your doorstep for MBB CC?
*
The documents that comes with the Credit Card letter .. does mentioned that it requires activation and which number to call in. But it seems like there is some problem with their office miscommunication.

Their office miscommunication? I can't get you. The number that you tried to call is busy or nobody picks up?
*
Sorry for the confusion. I've called up the number as stated in the letter for activation. Its a computer automated answering machine and I've key-in the necessary details as requested. After double confirmation, it says my card have been activated.

When I want to swipe the card - unable to do so. Called up the Service Centre they mentioned that my card have been blocked due to some unknown issues. Need to ask the officer to call me up for verification. And there goes the story of pushing the responsibility to the credit control department - customer service - in the end, I asked for the in charge person to solve the issue for me after numerous complain about the miscommunication issue.

I applied for HLBB credit card recently..seems that their representative was very polite and explain to me nicely about waving annual fee and GST exchanging reward points and stuff..it was better than i expected... rclxms.gif

anyone encountered any problems with HLBB and their credit cards?..
*
I've been using it for approx. 1 week .. so far everything is going smooth. Just that during the activation part only I encounter some problem with it. Others are good enough ..
Their service is quite fast and efficient if u consistently contact them .. laugh.gif

It is good to have a secure verification process but sometimes if it gets way too long, it is annoying. Just want to check some simple transaction of credit card but its like taking exam answering so many damn questions. Is is annoying! Thats right. Its you CIMB BANK!
*
There is Pros and Cons with this effective security measure .. thumbup.gif
IF its Big transaction - they call up to verify its a good. Just to avoid any fraud cases .. small transaction I believe its OK without verification unless its consistent or the transaction activity looks weird ..

Just curious, i applied for a cimb gold (petronas) credit card near the end of last week. Today, I got a phone call from a 'blocked' (anonymous) number asking for mother's maiden name and my latest cimb savings account transaction supposedly to confirm my particulars. Is this typical for them to ask it even though the card haven't been issued yet?
*
Hmm .. the person who spoke to you on the phone didn't even introduce him/herself ? unsure.gif
As for my case, 2 to 3 calls from the HLBB will introduce themselves before asking particulars from me to verify the application.
