EON- car loan
Public -house loan

someone mentioned about standard chartered platinum minimum limit. this is a bit embarrassing, i was given a pre-approved standard chartered platinum mastercard having a limit of only 5k. either the bank is really desperate or i am just a small fry which i guess is true  laugh.gif .

Could it be the card embosser mistakenly took the Plat card face for your Classic card. tongue.gif Just kidding.

so far i think most banks allow using 10k points or so to cancel off the service tax, this i would think actually encourages some people to spend more than to be thrifty. not exactly what the government wanted imho.  blink.gif
I read a news in a local Chinese newspaper stating that Citibank needs customers to utilise 11,000 points to exchange for the RM50 service tax waiver. It is indeed a very bad deal.

QUOTE(mouldybread @ Dec 26 2009, 02:26 PM)
i do not know if this is a repost, eon bank service centre just informed me that swiping 36 times per year will cancel off the service tax in the form of rm50 rebate. and this 36 times is not on top of the 12/24/36 times needed for the annual fee waiver. not bad for me i guess as getting 10k points is a bit hard...
It is not bad at all, as you don't need to use your hard-earened points to trade.

Some banks have changed their policy to retain customers. SCB Plat cc, alongside with Amex Plat cc have the LOWEST income requirement for the mass market.

actually nowadays banks had made platinum not so exclusive as it was. last time when i got my plats , i tot its a status recognition ... then i realised banks started to offer plats to any1 whose capability is not thr , i cancel all my plats n change to other cards which offer better rebates.

last time i might forgo the rebates to use my plats coz its better when doing business n shop in certain place ... after the banks did these stupid move , i changed all to enjoy rebates , since im not getting any status recognition , no reason for me to forgo these benefits.

now , whenever i saw these fresh grads who looks lansi with their plats , i lol at them. they tot they r professional n got plat with limit ard 10k is very high class , doh.gif

now unless u get a visa infinite or world mastercard , other cc to me is the same , no status recognition anymore. imagine i know a person with annual income 24k got gold card rclxub.gif with a limit of 3k blink.gif

It is also quite easy to get VI and World MC nowadays. So, I still prefer those cards giving me good benefits that suit my needs most. tongue.gif

Definitely a good deal !

Citibank cc is widely accepted when going to overseas.

Actually the bank brand has nothing to do with its acceptance overseas. Only the VISA and Mastercard logo matters.

QUOTE(epalbee3 @ Dec 26 2009, 11:00 AM)
I can use my ATM card to withdraw money from USA, Hong Kong and Singapore.

One thing worth mention is that there is no handling fee charged when you withdraw for cash using your Citicard at overseas Citibank ATM. However, if you use it at other bank's ATM, RM10 will be charged per withdrawal and many other banks' ATM card too, can be used to withdraw for cash overseas such as Maybank Cherry VISA/Mastercard, Public Bank Day2Day VISA just to name a few.

And it's the highest of all. HSBC requires 9,500 rewards points while Maybank needs 10,000 Treatpoints.

You should decide whether to continue to bank with CIMB Bank or Maybank. Many of their branches are located so near to each other. Both have many ATM but Maybank is still the clear winner here. CIMB Bank has been very aggressive with the setting up new offsite ATM but it seems to me that Maybank too, is setting up more and more offsite ATM every year.

Believe the first one you can dump is Hong Leong Bank. You can buy shares through Maybank online, CIMB Bank online and Public Bank online too.

High CL does not mean you have a very low debt level. Likewise for low CL .... doesn't mean that you have no or low debt.
It depends on an individual's spending and payment discipline.

I seriously disagree on the notion that high CL means you have high risk to be in debt.

it's true.

human are born equal, why need to class them? wink.gif

on the other hand, having a cc is sometimes useful for emergency purpose. I will keep RM20k (Plat) and RM4k (silver).

Indeed it is true.

For those who can control like us, credit limit is nothing and we pay off everything.

On the other hand, for those who cannot control spending, credit limit will be their trap.

Those who cannot control spending will lose their credit report and won't get higher credit limit anymore.

Like us, who get high credit limit, are those who paid off every month.

So, if you don't need it, you will probably get it.. wink.gif

A well-recognised brand does help to SOME EXTENT. At least some cashiers won't show you funny face looking front and back sides of your card. However, it is not a big issue to me. xmas.gif

Was deciding whether to potong my CIMB Enrich Gold the other day. My CL is only RM12k nia (all my other cards minimum RM20k CL) bcos I'm a freelancer and CIMB is the most kiasu bank in my experience - they even called me at 12am once to check when I pumped RM50 petrol.

So I suka-suka wrote an email to the head of credit card and ask for an upgrade to CIMB Enrich Platinum. Told her I have no documents to proof my income but to base my request on my last 10 months spending/payment.

Got a reply from her within 1 hour that she'll look into it. Within the next hour, an officer called to inform me I've been upgraded to plat with RM50k CL ...looks like an improvement in CIMB's service smile.gif

If later I can upgrade my CL to RM75k, then can become a priority customer without committing any money to them.

those with SCB Justone, u have at least 2 cards ? since you can't depend on this card alone as there are still some terminals that can't be swiped with the card.

Am I being offered a DA Platinum Mastercard? I saw an entry called "Graduate Mastercard Platinum" in my CIMBClicks?

IIRC, my annual income does not qualify for it and my credit limit for my DA Gold Mastercard was just increased last month.

Hope it's just a mistake. By the way, I'll cancel DA Gold next year once my installament programme ends.

Yeah that's a DA Platinum Mastercard.

Anyone aware whether the petrol rebates are going to continue?

I couldn't solely depend on SCB JustOne. Same thing applies to Amex. I used to bring along my Alliance Visa Plat cc or Alliance Premium dc for backup.

These are the tactics used by CIMB/DA and other banks recently. Knowing that most people would cancel their cards prior to the service tax charge, CIMB would take immediate action and automatically increase their CLs, upgrade Gold or Classic to Plat, or give them pre-approved Plat CCs. These show how desperate the bank is. biggrin.gif

No point for me to keep it even though it's free for life since there'll be RM 50 service tax imposed and I seldom use my DA Gold also.

Unless somebody could share me the bright sides of retaining it. tongue.gif

Nonetheless, it is still CIMB. Just ignore it. Unless CIMB/DA is willing to absord the service tax for you, or you can gain much more rebates and benefits from the card, then you may consider accept it.

I'm just curious since I never received any offer from CIMB/DA although I cancelled my card already. I cancelled it this year but not recently though.
