I dun mind if they upgrade me to RM30k but at the end I might end up asking them to reduce it to around RM15k.
I believe this is not possible with Citibank Platinum series of credit card. If you want a credit line lower than the minimum credit line set for their Platinum card by the management, they will ask you to get a Gold card instead. This is to maintain the standard as well as the exclusivity of their Platinum card.

By the way, if my memory serves me correctly, only UOB Bank will issue a Platinum card (Preferred Platinum as UOB calls it) with an extremely low credit line. eg. 5k or so.

I have a friend who downgraded his Gold credit limit to 3k.

MilesAndMore, are you Citibank Platinum Card holder?
How much is your credit limit?

Yupe, carrying a plat means high limit. If they rules are there, then I should get RM30k soon. But the officer told me that I might be able to maintain the current credit limit, if I want to.

The only concern I have about credit limit is fraud control.

Added on December 26, 2009, 10:08 amOne card can swipe RM30k.

e.g. If one person apply for cc from 20 banks.

Then he will be able to have RM600k credit line.

Now I know why people can owe Rm100++

Hello.. Anyone has Citibank Platinum Card now?

Mind to share experience of your fee waiver? Because it is not cheap, about RM600.

What requirement for fee waiver? how many times have to swap?

I owned Citibank Visa Platinum before. It was FOC for first eyar. AFs for second year onwards were waived by swiping at least 24 times of any amount per annum.

If i'm not mistaken, Citibank Platinum series credit card all comes with a minimum credit line of RM30k.
*
No. Minimum CL for Citibank Plat is ONLY RM20k. On the other hand, you can get a CL of as high as RM450k for Citibank Plat.

QUOTE(epalbee3 @ Dec 26 2009, 02:12 AM)
I heard some standard chartered plat has credit limit of 7k only.
*
I don't think you will be able to get a CL of RM7k for SCB Plat. As far as I know, SCB is unable to reduce the CL below its minimum level. For example, minimum CL for SCB Titanum is already RM15k. Therefore, CL of its Plat series should be more than that.

Thank you.

The conclusion for Citibank Plat Card is:

Credit Limit >= RM20k
First Year Waived, after that waive by swiping 24 times/year.

Not much benefit. I owned Citibank Visa Plat for more than 1.5 years. I used the card quite a lot in overseas to enjoy 2x points. After that Citibank removed the promotion and I also obtained other better cards like SCB JustOne Titanium MC and Alliance Visa Plat at that time. Therefore, I cancelled the card.

Ok, thank you.
Seeing above discussions, I think I'm going to get my citi plat card soon with RM20k limit.
Since I don't need to pay fee, it is ok.

I am quite satisfy with Citibank phone service, after 6 years of their customer.
I tried to call other banks seldom has this kind of professional service.
Happy now, since I get my plat, credit limit not much increase and annual fee waived.

Citibank cc is widely accepted when going to overseas.
I can use my ATM card to withdraw money from USA, Hong Kong and Singapore.
They are CC specialists, so expect a lot of promotion activities.
I don't want to apply a card that never feel my existence after that.. smile.gif

Alliance Bank sometimes can be very strict to first timers. A lot of freshies have been rejected for Alliance Younique MC.

Many people here had already cancelled some of their CCs even prior to government's confirmation on service tax mechanism.

urm.. i think all Malaysians will have the intention to cancel cc due to the RM50 tax, sweat.gif but whether they're able to is another question. haha. laugh.gif

I've got my CIMB canceled. Confirmed by email. So now only having 1 left. smile.gif

I don't think that'll be a problem. Fill in the particulars accordingly and get the existing cc photocopied to get approval faster. nod.gif

IMHO .... the SCB JustOne card. The 2-in-1 function comes in handy when withdrawing cash overseas.

No doubt SCB JustOne is the best cc we have ever had. But it is pointless to mention it again as SCB has stopped issuing this card.

Don't know why I uses different bank for different purpose.

CIMB-saving
Citi- CC
EON- car loan
Public -house loan
Maybank - cheque
hong leong - buying shares

Anyone know anyway I can consolidate all these into one bank..
Very tired to maintain all these banks..

so far i think most banks allow using 10k points or so to cancel off the service tax, this i would think actually encourages some people to spend more than to be thrifty. not exactly what the government wanted imho. blink.gif

i do not know if this is a repost, eon bank service centre just informed me that swiping 36 times per year will cancel off the service tax in the form of rm50 rebate. and this 36 times is not on top of the 12/24/36 times needed for the annual fee waiver. not bad for me i guess as getting 10k points is a bit hard...

someone mentioned about standard chartered platinum minimum limit. this is a bit embarrassing, i was given a pre-approved standard chartered platinum mastercard having a limit of only 5k. either the bank is really desperate or i am just a small fry which i guess is true laugh.gif .
