hello.. i got confused somehow.. i applied for maybank ikhwan last month and it was my first cc.. what i don't understand is i got this statement and it said my outstanding balance is 1.2k.. then, i go to cash deposit and pay 1.1k to credit card.. but still outstanding balance is still not decrease.. they said i can pay any amount.. i used only about 1.2k last month.. got confused since this is my first time using cc..

do i need to call to cc center to activate my sony cc and amex card?

Preferably .. as its much safer to do it that way instead of calling through the Electronic Answering Server to do the activation. Just to avoid any miscommunication and problem from happening ..

Really ? Maybe its only from MBB. My HLB seems to be the other way round .. need to activate. They recommend us to call in to the Automated Activation by keying in the CC numbers and some other details. To my surprise is - once I have done with that procedure. My Card got blocked .. and they said suspect of fraud and pending my activation. It took me almost half day with numerous of calls to Customer Service, CC Agent and Credit Control department to solve the case.

Depends on how you got the cards. If you got it from your preferred Maybank branch, then no. You do not have to call in to activate the card. But if it was mailed to your house, then you will need to call in to activate.
It is not 5%, it is only 1.25% and they call it admin fee. It is the same with PBB debit card.

The documents that comes with the Credit Card letter .. does mentioned that it requires activation and which number to call in. But it seems like there is some problem with their office miscommunication.

I first made my request when I cancelled the card at a branch. The officer said that I can try emailing them also for TPs transfer, just to make sure the request went through. Coz he had put my request on the cancellation form also. So I emailed them, then they asked for my IC and the last 4 digits of my CCs. After a couple of days, the TPs from my AMEX are already under my Visa.
