KIA claim 7.1L/100KM

safe to say that between 7.1/KM ~ 9L/100KM. some of us get 12L/100KM ~ 14L/100KM (perhaps 100% city driving + caught in jam + tons of traffic light)
*
manufacturer's fuel consumption figures are in test conditions at a constant speed, usually 60kph..........which is NEVER the conditions one drives.......

there are so many variables in driving conditions, it is pointless to compare one driver/car with the next......or even one tankful and the next..........each driver will have his particular style and consumption figures........

i drive pretty much with consistent style, and traffic conditions on my route do not vary too widely.........and yet, monitoring my consumption over the last 3 years, i still get a variable of +/- 15% or so..........

the underpower of Forte is felt when climbing even small hill..  hmm.gif  FC rating increased when pressed harder on the pedal (of course!).. i climbed Bukit Brinchang (Cameron Highlands) before with my old wira.. dun think Forte can take that  sweat.gif
1.6l pulling 1.3 tonne is okay, no worse than other cars of the same class, power and weight found commonly in msia........

in many countries however, 1.6l would be considered significantly underpowered, and the 2l is the minimum entry level car marketed, with a 2.4l version for those who wants more oomph.....

just to add.. my SA claim that if our windscreen crack, they don't cover it.
lets hope problem in SG remain in SG only.  sweat.gif

that is bullshit........they already have reduced their warrantee to 2 years from the standard 5 years in other countries, still want to wriggle out of this........

look at your warrantee booklet carefully, make sure they do not include additional exclusion conditions.......

i think all new car buyers should have perspective........all cars potentially can have defects, even bmw and mercs........it's a matter of how many, and whether there is any design defects which can be major, like the cracking windscreen........

and unlucky buyers can get what is called lemons........a car somehow plagued with unusual number of defects and problems........

some manufacturers have a reputation of having low defects rate.....toyota leads in this area, and part of the reason why the toyota brand sells so well in msia.......they sell usually simple bland (or comfortable to most people) cars that is reliable and lasting........

one fear i have with the forte is, how long will all the fancy electronics actually last?...........

At Naza Kia, they only allocate after booking fees + load approve + down payment. To lock-in the car, you'll have to provide down payment.

*
that is NOT what i am told.......there is ONLY booking fee.......no such thing as 'down payment'.........which i take to mean the difference between the cost and loan sum.......this 'downpayment' will be paid together with the bank loan release when the car is ready.....

the rumours about bad naza service, bad management, bad pricing policy, bad discounts for old models undermining owners resale value..........it's all true...........as is now obvious to this forum..........

the only way they survived is the enormous number of ap's they get.........and their ability to use these ap's to import cbu, and pay ckd taxes........

hmm.. will cruze pricing near to forte 1.6 and 2.0??!
it's a good car...
i was eyeing cruze but it never made the july09 launch.......so i had to stick on to my 14 year old car a bit longer.........until forte, and yes, i STILL have to hold on to the old faithful.........dunno for how long more........

price will now depend on how it is brought in.....if under chev brand, then expect full taxes and excise, and the 1.8l car priced at about 100+k..........

if they can 'nazarise' it, which i doubt (chev wouldn't want that), then expect about the same price as the 2l forte, ie 90k or so.........

which is still grossly overpriced, for something which sells for aud25k...........

the oz version comes with a 6 speed autotranny, which is an overkill for an engine that is relatively underpowered........a bit like the 17" rims in the forte sx1.6l..........

QUOTE(jimmy.soo @ Jan 5 2010, 04:16 PM)

well, there are others that provide higher heat rejection rate too for LLumar.... but dont take IRR as a measurement, take the overall one which is TSER

QUOTE
The age-old debate of Solar Heat Rejection: - Currently, many brands in Malaysia are using Infra-red rejection (IR Rejection) as a gauge to the level of heat rejection. However, these IR rejections were often abused by some competitive film players stating very high number rejection without mentioning at which wavelength it really cover and lead to misleading end consumers buying into their idea.

A high IR rejection level does not necessarily mean high heat rejection. The Heat Spectrum consists of 3% Ultravoilet Radiation (UV), 44% Visible Light Transmission (VLT) and 53% Infra Red Radiation (IR-R), A combination of all represents 100% of Total Solar Heat Rejection (TSER).
it still boils down to irr.........

uvr contributes minimal to heat transmission, and in any case, it is consistently blocked 99% by all films........

vlt is also fixed, as you are limited by jpj requirements..........unless you take a risk you don't get checked, and you strip it off before puspakom when you sell next time.........

so it's still the irr that is going to make the difference..........

QUOTE(4te @ Jan 5 2010, 08:28 PM)
Actually the stock tint does a good job during normal day with clouds ... but on a clear sky with full blast of sun day, quite hot i would say as compared to my gf's Latio with 3M tint but i feel around 30% better than my Spectra without any tint.

So the best thing to do before going for tinting is to test it for 2 weeks, if you are ok with the stock tint, then save the $ for tinting and spend on other stuff  icon_rolleyes.gif

If there is a TT for Penang members, I would like to do a test on tinting ... compare the tint quality by doing:

1. set the aircon to auto, no outside air circulation and 24 degree (so the test doesn't take too long)
2. park 3 Fortes with different tint (one should be with only the stock tint) under direct hot sun for an hour or two
3. start engine and on the auto aircon at the same time for all 3 Fortes
4. Record the time it takes for the aircon to reduce to 6 bars, 3 bars and 1 bar

Then we can have the true result of the stock tinting and other branded tinting  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
there are other variables still, notably the colour of the interior and exterior........black absorbs heat.......so the experiment will need to have the same colours.......... biggrin.gif

well, we'll know in 4 months time tongue.gif

the whole suggestion does not make sense.......

so people who drives persona 1.6 are richer than people who drives vios/city/swift etc?.........

as of now, based on info from my sa, there is NO date given from naza hq for the release of the 2l version...........but being a typical salesman, he remains optimistic about a jan release........

and being a typical very surprised customer, i don't believe him........good thing i don't need the car urgently, but with the new petrol subsidy thing, maybe the 308 turbo is a better option.........

i got a feeling, the trouble with the 2l is so deep, even naza does not know how to resolve it.........that's why the deafening official silence.......

and i got a feeling the gov may force naza to do what they had to do when they first launched the sephia/spectra......artificially increase the price so as not to cannabalise proton's sales.........

fortelover, the language used in that 'article' is a dead giveaway that it is a fake..........

in any case, it will not happen that way, due to the inpact on existing car owners.........all loans will immediately become negative, and the banks will need to recall all loans to avoid a spike in npl.........if they ever do this, it will be done gradually over several years............
