“From May 1, the fuel will be pegged at RM 3.90 per litre for RON97, while RON95 will increase to RM 3.70 per litre. However, the prices of national-made vehicles will be lowered by at least 40 percent. For example, a full-spec family sedan Proton Persona 1.6 litre engine will cost around RM 23,000.00 excluding road tax and insurance. Import tax and excise duty will be revised to only 30 percent, from the current 200 percent. Imported vehicles such as the new Toyota Camry 2.4 litre engine will cost around RM 65,000.00.” he said.

Can anyone pls feedback how true is the above?
Got this from some email chains, and when I tried to search for SkyNet News Asia it requried subscription..

If Camry 2.4 priced around RM65k & Persona 1.6 around RM23K, for sure i will buy Camry 2.4 & kiss good bye to proton forever whistling.gif

Hi Forte owners - would like to check with you about rear legroom in your new ride?

Reason I ask is that I test drove a Ford Focus and was disappointed by the rear legroom for a car in that class. My wife says even our City rear legroom is better than the FF. What's the Forte like? Care to share? tks
*
I bet that if your wife & u see & test drive the Forte (especially the SX variant), both of u will fall in love with it wub.gif By the way, Forte seats on C segment & City on B segment. So logically..Forte is roomier than City

didn't post any update lately...
here is the news for 2.0 (u judge whether is good or bad news)

3 days ago, i call the regional manager - Alfred Lee
i'm asking about when can we (especially those prelaunch buyer) get the 2.0 forte and his answer is "we pushing to distribute the car before CNYE."
i ask is it now the car already here? he:'' yes, the cars are at gurun. we are pushing it to customer before CNYE."
then how can you assure us - prelaunch buyer get the car 1st and not others that buy later? he said: "we have enough 2.0 to distribute to buyer, just wait till that time. "

i ask my SA, actually now got how many units? my SA said total of 200 units 2.0 and 400 units 1.6. not sure how truth is their story... just wait and see lo....
*
Very2 good news if i can get my 2.0 be4 CNY. Else..will sakit hati so much

But those who in the same ship as me (2.0) we still pray alot or dream everynite biggrin.gif. But im sure no matter how or when. I think its worth waiting for some times ! Cause Forte is a worth buying CAR !!!!! sometimes we cant push too much, will end up bad quality built. Get wat i mean ? let them do their work, as long dont cross over line make me scold the word "CCB". LOLX

Drove my 2.0 on the highway today.... engine noise is barely noticeable, wind noise is of moderate volume but on par with the Civic. The ThetaII is much more refined and relaxed (2.1-2.2k rpm at 100kmh) compared to the i30's aging Beta (2.5-2.6k rpm).
*
From my calculation based on 4th gear ratio, final drive ratio, tyre & rim size of the forte 2.0SX, at 110kmh, the engine RPM should be slightly less than 2.5k. & yes..u are right, at 100kmh, rev count should be around 2.2k. Due to the lower RPM at high speed, i can safely says that Forte 2.0SX should get good gas mileage on the highway smile.gif

Want to know 2.0SX engine RPM at 200kmh? oops.gif hehe...

1998cc is considered 2000cc. same...

If i'm not mistaken, for road tax price calculation, JPJ will count on every single cc. So our 1998cc Forte should be treated as below 2000cc car category brows.gif

For those booker for 2.0, dont jump the gun yet..been informed by one Naza guys, 2.0 only will be distributed in June..you all still have 5 months to dream..haha..not bad enough compared if you book for new ferrari..sorry.. tongue.gif
*
Aiyaa..but wondering who is your Naza guy? Naza's top management? Or just simply their SAs? As of now..bomberman facts are more reliable since he spoke to Naza's Regional Manager (with name) saying that earlier 2.0 bookers will get their car be4 CNY.

Added on January 16, 2010, 5:54 pmSpotted 2 Fortes today. 1st Forte (metal bronze) with plate no WTH 2**2 parking near PPUM bus stop around 11am & another 1 (titanium silver) waiting at traffic light near Tesco Mutiara Damansara around 3.15pm also WTH plate but cant see the no clearly. Nice (if truelah). Assume it as a surprise bonus smile.gif finally we can differentiate between 1.6 & 2.0 externally. Besides shark fin antenna, 2.0 forte got 2.0 emblem or not at the rear end of the car?

Bro, as for item 3, the insulation must be perfectly done to avoid any condensation in the insulation. If it is not nicely done and there is condensation between the pipe and insulation, then it might be bad for the pipe in the long term. I think if the aircon is cold enough for you, better dont do anything and let the Sg owners test for 1-2yrs and if nothing happens to the pipe, then we can do it.

Initially, I was thinking of DIY using the good quality insulation tape for aircon pipe to ensure that no gap whatsoever between the pipe and insulation, but ater looking at the pipe, its very difficult to do it with the limited space and came across this discussion among the Sg members http://www.ceratoforte.sg/general-discussi...ighlight=aircon ... so decided to drop this mod and wait and see. But, so far i am happy with the aircon and 24c cold enough for me biggrin.gif

QUOTE
Then again. If i remember my chemistry correctly. When aluminium react with water it will corrode to form aluminium oxide. And it shouldn't deteriorate the piping any further, unlike iron. Where if they rust, they corrode till the core.

Extract from website:

Aluminium's
corrosion resistance
Untreated aluminium has very good corrosion resistance in most environments. This is primarily because aluminium spontaneously forms a thin but effective oxide layer that prevents further oxidation. Aluminium oxide is impermeable and, unlike the oxide layers on many other metals, it adheres strongly to the parent metal. If damaged mechanically, aluminium's oxide layer repairs itself immediately. This oxide layer is one of the main reasons for aluminium's good corrosion properties. The layer is stable in the general pH range 4 – 9. In strongly acid or alkaline environments, aluminium normally corrodes relatively rapidly.
