thats price for fully synthetic..
for mineral the price is just rm80 plus (same or slightly more than vios charges ~ for mineral package)

you can choose what package that you want.
*
can choose? not too sure. They claimed that better to use fully synthethic since our Forte is using timing chain.

The mechanic just to con you for their profit, it doesn't matters that you are using fully synthethic or semi synthethic. Actually semi synthethic is good enough, just that you need to service your car regularly. If you can maintain service your car every 5000 km, then your engine will be take care nicely. Service every 10k interval for me consider not that good. Just for example, the oil will getting thicker and darker, how thick it will be if you reach 10k only service your car? Is better that you service your car more frequent then get the best oil but service in double of the time. cheers...

Judging from your argument, isn't it better to use mineral engine oil instead of semi-synthetic? It'll be cheaper too.

That is just the compare between same category of engine oil, the lubricant is different from mineral and semi-synthetic. The point in my argument is that forte's engine is neither a turbo engine or high performance engine that fit into Mercedes or other premium brand. So by using full synthetic oil is actually a waste. Regular service with shorter service interval will keep your engine live longer.

Just my 2 cents opinion ... smile.gif

unfortunately they do not offer semi synthetic. only mineral and fully synthetic.
i've use mineral before for vios.. the engine performance dropped like hell. its up to personal choice. do you have any document to support your claim or simply giving out your opinion and hope others to agree with you?
tongue.gif

if got semi synthetic of course have more option for customers.. but bear in mind that double service (twice 5K service) for semi, the charges will be more than fully (10K service).

coz i've compared mineral services charge is equal or slightly less to fully synthetic charges (for major services and normal services after 1 year)

Actually is not an opinion that need agreement from other people, is just my personal experience when i service my current ride. I did service it in every 5k and I'm using semi synthetic oil. I had a few times try to push the limit up to 7k then only change the engine oil, I can see the performance of my car is really dropping at the range of 6k - 7k. Document? sorry that I don't have. Just to share my personal experience. smile.gif

hahaha.. your's is using semi and performance dropped at 6 ~ 7K. if fully of course it will be different.. maybe the performance only dropped at 8 ~ 9K? have you try fully synthetic and the performance dropped at the same level (6 ~ 7K)? my gf's vios use fully synthetic and no issue on performance at 8K out of 10K now.. tongue.gif

If all the while u have been using Semi-Sync oil , then your car will not be suitable to convert to Fully Sync oil anymore.
But vice-versa, you can switch to Semi-Sync from Fully Sync anytime.
This is what I heard fr the shop.

So, better make your best choice in the beginning... flex.gif
