SVS us "upping" the ante....I wonder how the subwoofer community is going to react to the 13s and 16s.....

More choices for us, and with htkaki as the distri we can expect some pretty good launch prices, as he states.

To the Bass Nuts....US version of "2012" audio reviw:-

QUOTE
This lossless DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack is demonstration quality and is sure to please those who like to play their systems loud. This recording has wide dynamic range and boasts superlative clarity and high level detail that is truly impressive. Dialogue is definitive and appreciably lucid through the center channel as it reaches far into the room. It’s located just slightly in front of the left/right speakers within the acoustic space it occupies in the soundfield. I never had any trouble distinguishing even the slightest changes in the pitch or inflection of voices. Front channel separation and imaging was excellent. This drew out both large and small sound elements and allowed their directional correlation based upon the onscreen events to be definable. The mix makes effective and often aggressive use of the surround channels to elongate the front soundstage and reproduce the spatial and discrete sounds of this demanding soundtrack. The listening position is submerged in a rotating soundscape that is sometimes riveting as it bombards the senses with a combination of well placed sound effects and musical ambiance. The low frequency effects are applied authoritatively to underscore the bombastic and aggressive aspects of this soundtrack and it does so quite effectively. This mix delivers bass that runs the low frequency spectrum as it fills the room with refined bass quality that is appreciably superior and on occasion skin tingling. This is a sophisticated sound design that is loaded with various sound effects, spatial cues, music, and dialogue. Each was clearly represented with enriching clarity, detail and appropriate sound field placement.

So, for those already got the Speedy version and not satisfied with it....will you double dip??? brows.gif brows.gif tongue.gif

in dts 5.1, feel the LFE pressure and the drum beats...wonderful sound....thumbup.gif

htTAUKEH loan me the MSC-01
which is a blardy GIANT center
The 1st word my wife saw it and she said:"What a BIG BIG potato!! Don't you ever dream of buying that and put in the living room!!" sweat.gif
There goes my intention of owning it tongue.gif

A simply 1st time review as compared to my Axiom VP150

Appearance
HUGH!!! it's even larger than my Emotiva XPA-3!! and weight 17kgs!!
the height of the speakers blocked slightly like 1cm of my TV which is 9" from the table sweat.gif
The reflection of the Piano finished is a turn off as it reflected everything from my screen...

Setup
Simple enough, just unplug my the Vp150 and plug in my Kimble Kable with dual spring banana plug and there it goes....but 1st need to "hug" the thing from the box to the table lar tongue.gif

The sound
Ok, the most important part.
processed by marantz SR6003 and powered by Emotiva XPA-3, since the unit had been run in at TAUKEH's place, I just crank it up.
Tonal balance are blend nicely with my Axiom M60 main. Did not run any calibration, just pop in "Celine Dion: Live in Vegas" and select the song I Am Alive.....immediately notice the clarity and more dynamic mid range as compared with the VP150

Then, I put in Storm Warrior II, the opening scene with dts-ma 7.1 selected, when "Mou Meng" engage "Man Kiem Kuai Zhong", the sound were terrific, can literally felt the swords are flying around you, and with the MSC-01, the knocking sound of the flying swords and more realistic than the VP150, and the dialog from "Chiit Mou San" also clearer even he spoke very softly and less muffle like in VP150

after that, pop in "AFQ Live" concert.....in dts-ma 5.1, I felt a more vibrant guitar sound and notice improvement on small details from the larger woofer (6.5" vs 5.25" of the VP150) and 2 big bass port at the back. Those size really helps bring out the sound of the concert.....

The thing cost RM3k++ vs the VP150 at RM2.1k (incl tax), worth it?
Yes if you have a big room, but on a smaller room, unless u wanna play really loud, the 33% more money you pay might not be able to be fully utilised.

Just my take.....
