Hello people. Been a while since I last posted. Anyway, I just want to ask whether anyone's actually tried the 32MB "original" PS2 memory cards? I got suckered into buying it, simply because the dude at the shop said it's original.

Of course, needless to say, when I brought it back to the shop to ask for a refund/exchange, the guy(s) told me it's DEFINITELY original. Sigh. Ignorant people. Goes for me too I suppose tongue.gif

The product number for standard PS2 memory cards is SCPH-10020. There's also some additional detail behind the number. For example, SCPH-10020U is for the US. The Korean version is SCPH-10020GB. And so on, and so forth. As for the 32MB "original" version, the product number is supposedly SCPH-10050. If you want to know what this product actually is, try Googling for it.

Of course, I also have to give credit where it's due. Technically, the only difference between the memory cards is the size. 32MB is much bigger compared to the lowly 8MB that Sony offers. That, and of course, whether the 32MB card actually uses MagicGate technology. I wonder if PS2 games actually check for copyrighted content. Gonna check it out later, since I won't be returning it in the end. Will update the status once I've tested it out.

Holy crap. The 32MB memory is sl---ooo---wwwww. Tried a simple file copy between two cards, and the result is not what I'd call acceptable. I tried transferring a 264kB file from a 8MB card to the 32MB card. It took me a good 20+ second. The same file, when copied to a normal 8MB card, shouldn't take more than 5-6 seconds.

Bottom line: the 32MB card is hardly worth it. Though the storage size is remarkable (compared to the 8MB anyway), the speed transfer is not acceptable. At all. Now, I'm just worried that data on the card will get lost over time. Remember those 120 blocks PS1 memory card anyone?

I got a PSP 1000-K Japan version value pack, with additional 512MB MS Pro Duo, 2 games for 380SGD... It's second had, but only 1 month old, very very nice condition... no scratch, and comes in original packaging! That's about RM840??? Cheap right? Haha, got it off eBay, and that guy was desperate to sell it!
