Review at post #2:w

Alright guys, since a pretty comprehensive reviews had been made, I will only write a brief one on the Razer Mako

Razer Mako vs Edifier S730D

Packaging~I would say Razer made more effort in this, the box of Razer Mako is more attractive in comparison to the Edifier S730D which is plain. Opening the box and take a look how the speakers are protected? Well, not much difference I would say btw this 2 speakers.

Design& built~ Again, I would say Razer is better in designing the speakers than the Edifier. Razer Mako looks like a high tech speakers on ur table whereas the Edifier looks like old-skool type of speakers. Razer Mako satellite speakers are small, sleek, and quite light so it's easier for you to place them, it is ideal for people who has small table, the Edifier S730D is bulky, quite ugly and heavy, heavy is actually good bcoz it means gd material are used here, bad things is that they're large so you probably want to grab speaker stands for the 2 satellite speakers unless you hv a big table, thus when it comes to solidity of the speakers, I would say Edifier is the winner here.

Equalizer setting on the control pad/Remote~ It only takes me a while to decide that Edifier pawns Razer Mako in this. Why? The reason is on Razer Mako control pad, you can only control the volume and bass but for the Edifier, you can adjust the volume, balance, satellite speaker bass, subwoofer bass and Treble, an extra remote control is given for the Edifier so you don't hv to walk to ur speakers to adjust the volume every time which is good.

Sound Quality~ It's quite hard for me to choose who's the winner here but after testing a few songs, I would still say Edifier stands out better. Edifier is like a all-rounder, you can use it for almost all type of songs since you can adjust the bass and treble accordingly, the Edifier also has warmer sound than the Razer Mako. Razer Mako is suitable for playing sentimental and pop songs but it doesn't sound very gd when rock songs are being played. Razer Mako sound signature is bright, sometimes too bright for certain songs and causes uncomfortable to my ears ( partly bcoz I can't really appreciate bright sound signature ) However, it's not too bright until the level where it pains my ears, it's just slightly brighter than the Edifier. In term of bass, Edifier is still better than the Razer Mako, Edifier bass can be adjusted for the subwoofer and satellite speakers like I mentioned earlier which I like the most, I don't quite understand when certain people said that the Edifier subwoofer bass is weak(may be you guys forgot to tweak the SW which is the subwoofer bass), for mine, it's strong enuf to shake ur room as well as get ur neighbours to summon police to pay a visit to you smile.gif Well, don't get it wrong tho when I said Edifier has better hand in bass, it doesn't Razer Mako is bad in bass, it seriously doesn't. Razer Mako has very solid deep bass, it goes deep in ur heart but it doesn't shake the room, so if you're planning to getting a speakers for partay, you would probably want to grab the Edifier S730D instead but please bear in mind the Edifier S730D is 30kg of weight. Another thing I don't like about the Razer Mako would be the ethernet lookalike speaker cables, this is because we cannot upgrade the speaker to better one and I hv no idea how much would it cost you if it's spoiled xD

So as a conclusion, again I would say that you don't really need the THX certification to actually sound gd, but if you ask me does the Razer Mako sounds good, I would say it definitely is judging from its size, however, I do feel it's a little bit too much for Razer to ask for Rm1299 as its retail price, RM1080 is still quite expensive to me bcoz Edifier S730D is only RM999, if only they can lower down the price to RM700-900, then yes, this speaker is really worth buying coz it definitely pawns the Altec Lansing MX5021 which is also THX certified.

P/S: I tested the Razer Mako by directly plugging into my Macbook without any soundcard, I plan to write this reviews later after my soundcard is fixed but it will take another few weeks to do so so I think I had better write one first. The Edifier sound impression is made when I paired it with my SC last time and it's not reviewed by playing side by side with the Razer Mako, songs tested are mixed from FLAC, 320kbps and 256kbps (VBR) MP3.

In one month actually, it's just that I'm lazy to upload, partly due to the fact that I'm facing prob uploading pics for the past few weeks.

Nothing special. In fact, during those days when I was using SB Live + ACS48, I face the sattelite against to wall to tame down the brightness due to lack of treble control on ACS48. Its not really special and I dont find it clearer or anything.

The Mako is pretty nice boss, u should gv it a try. Forget about the price tho.

the last picture, look like network cable o.O
*
Indeed, it looks like the ethernet cable, thus they specifically stated that do not plug into the ethernet plug. Kinda special the speaker cables but bad thing about it is that you couldn't upgrade the cables...

Wonder how it perform vs Bose C3?
*
Not quite sure, nvr audition the C3 before, not really a fan of Bose speakers here, prob due to bad comments from their headphones thus lose faith in the brand.

I traded with my old Edifier S730D with top up. It's RM1080 since the price has dropped.

Yup, not bad I would say, I would still say the Edifier is more suitable for it, separation speakers would b better, but only that Senn Hd650 is more details and warmer thus I like to use it more on orchestra listening.

Em, sry boss but I can't really tell you on that becoz I don't really audition the Klipsch GMX 2.1 closely before. As far as I can say, it's better than the Altec Lansing MX5021 smile.gif

Yea, coz most of the time I will be using my Senn HD650, even when I'm watching movies/series coz don't wanna disturb my housemate, therefore there's no point keeping it rite. It's been sitting on the table for 2 months + ady without me utilizing it xD What a waste of money =.='''
