Slow and quite bad, consider that the shop name was XL-Shop "DOT COM" sweat.gif

Besides, there's a new outlet in Subang's Empire Gallery mall. I sent an email in to see if they could send the package to Subang's outlet rather than MV's. Still no response so far. sad.gif

hahah you better call lor tongue.gif I think they leave their email replies to their IT guys, which from my observation, are quite slow in doing their job.
*
I did call once and yeah, their "physical" department is not "attached" to their "online" side. So more like, the guy answering my call gonna be a middleman. I think it does help speed things up, maybe a little? Give it 1 more day, I'll call tomorrow if I don't see response by the end of today.

you paid for poslaju?
if so, then you got double punked laa... service slow, chose poslaju also no point...

I opted for self collection @ MV. No option for sending to Empire Gallery @ Subang though. Only if I knew earlier, then I would've put remarks when I checkout my cart. sad.gif

usually, self collect, just go to the shop via walk in ... if the item in stock, it should be there in the shop ... then just show your print out order..
*
They've confirmed the availability before payment. Just that they never stated that the items already in the particular outlet. So I thought I'd give them some time to ship the items to their designated outlet. whistling.gif

Still, nothing beats the experience of buying from AmiAmi, which was G-R-E-A-T! Email reply was prompt and I've made 3 purchases last month due to the 50% slash on SAL shipping. laugh.gif

Added on May 13, 2010, 4:10 pmAlmost forgot to give XL-Shop.com a call.

Talked to a lady and confirmed my order and payment. Apparently, my order has not been printed out yet (order slip?) and that she would inform her colleague to do it.

Excuse given for lousy online service, 1 of the colleagues was on-leave, while the other guy was not around, based in somewhere else. Seems like only 2 guys working on the whole website? Maybe they should consider invest in 3G broadband solutions. biggrin.gif

Told her to send my items to the Empire Gallery outlet instead of the designated MV outlet. Estimated collection date - tomorrow (Friday).

Hopefully, cause if not, then it's been almost 1 week after payment has been made. *cross fingers*

Paypal's exchange rate is between you and your credit company actually. Unless you are a merchant, then it's probably a bit PITA for your side. Otherwise, Paypal, to me, is made to protect buyers more than the merchant.

So it's indeed safer to pay via Paypal than directly with credit card, as transaction cancellation is much easier than calling the bank for dispute. biggrin.gif

So far, Paypal has not charged me any sort of fee. As for merchant, it depends on how they list their price.

For eg:
Amiami listed their price in Yen, and I paid in Yen in Paypal, which will be translated into USD before charging to my CC. The rate was acceptable and the merchant didn't reflect the Paypal fee into me, as the buyer.

Another example would be buying from Shahinki. Paying through cc (Paypal) is very bad. As the conversion rate shown on the website was way out and you are required to pay in USD, not MYR. I've bought an item listed as RM750, but the USD rate listed on the website was USD250. Thus when you paid USD250, once the conversion back to MYR @ 3.5, you'll get charged more than RM850.

I think this is a way merchant "cheat" the buyer, cause the amount was set in the Paypal link provided by merchant to you via email. The only way to pay the exact amount as listed would be via Maybank2u.

Thirdly, I've recently bought something from XL-Shop.Com, which I paid via Paypal. But they charged in MYR (I can only charge into my Visa card), hence I've only paid the amount as agreed upon. Though I haven't check my credit card transaction, but I believe it's as the amount that I agreed to pay to Paypal.

Will update back later once I've checked the transaction history.

EDIT: checked, it's charged as the agreed upon figure. Paypal doesn't charge the buyer any fee so far, except if you do withdrawal from your credit card into your Paypal account.

USD have been low for the pass 2 months.... at 3.3 at most (3.2 currently)...

I pay by Palpal using the required currency. HKD, Yen, USD or RM.... the credit card will handle the direct exchange rate. Yen to USD to ringgit , you'll loose  2x in exchange rate.

Pay by ringgit (not paypal's rate, and allowed by merchant like XL) is the best as there's no lost in exchange rate.
*
The example given was when the rate still at 3.5 biggrin.gif

Anyway, I just went to give it another check on Shashinki. I look up on a lens costing RM1450. When I choose to pay with Paypal, it turns into USD524.56 (2.764). But once you converted USD524.56 back to MYR, you'll kena RM1674. What a con!

Even when I paid in Yen and loose 2x conversion rate, it doesn't cost that much! Anyway, 2x conversion rate still within acceptable range. I believe it's still cheaper than manually changing your currency at the "pengurup wang". biggrin.gif

from my experience using amiami and paypal.. usually the amount converted in paypal and the amount that appears on my credit card statement is roughly 3-4% more than the one stated on paypal. so i assume its the service charge for using paypal. 3-4% is actually quite minimal. as its roughly the standard charge, even if u buy certain things with credit card in msia, they will charge u 2.5% service fee. so its the same. still value for money to me as their discounts and good service can easily cover up that small service charge.
*
Mine was different by 1%+, which was very little.

Did you happen to choose the conversion by Paypal, instead of credit company?

merchants are not supposed to charge us fees over usage of credit card. I read the article somewhere in newspaper. If they do, just use cash

Japanses figure thread suddenly became paypal thread  sweat.gif

I was actually happy when they announced those kit as resin garage kit.

Now they came as PVC prepainted kit? ohmy.gif

Damn...

For once, I find Asuka's figure looks better than Rei's.

Choose SAL Registered if possible. Amiami definitely can opt for this as I did on all (3x) my previous shipments.

Just went to pick-up my Alter Hazuki and Alter Yomako from XL-Shop just now.

Open up Hazuki, a little disappointed with the final work. Certain area the paint job was not nice, even I can notice got bubbling. The bottom of the figure has got some paint flaws even. PVC figure got sharp edges on the hair. Rubbing on her butt causes powder to stick on my finger. Long storage? No coating? Bad paint job? No idea what causes that. First impression on Alter's figures, "look damn nice on photo, but final artwork a lot different".

Then I open up Yomako-sensei. Fortunately, this 1 looks a lot better than Hazuki. It finally clear up Alter's name. Paint detail was good, though there were some "polished" sign on the hair, probably due to long shipment and rubbing against the plastic cover. Quite satisfied with Yomako-sensei, though it was nowhere near Canaan's kind of satisfaction yet. biggrin.gif

No idea who handled the Hazuki's project, but that guy who did the QC should be shot to death. Anyway, Hazuki was only <RM100. I guess no complain on that.

SAL... 2 months, I'll consider "telan" by PosMal... too bad no insurance (by HS or Amiami).
*
SAL (if you can call it that way) from YesAsia, sorta insured by YesAsia itself.

If no delivery, can inform them and YesAsia *might* resend your order. Though I've yet to face such problem.

Is this OT already? biggrin.gif

DISCLAIMER: YesAsia do sell Gunpla/figures.

Yeah, indeed overpriced for the stuff that related to this thread. But my experience with them was mainly CDs purchases only. smile.gif
