Fair enough, it is not that right to hold only one stock which is your entire portfolio.
Finance stock, its nature is actually not safe, they could be the one that go burst if we have economy recession or depression. Once NPL rise, and due to nature of banking business of leverage, a few % rise in NPL could put a lot of pressure on finance company.

Having said so, finance stock is the one to hold when economy good time, they will perform very good as when economy good time, profit flow in like non-stop. Unlike manufacturing company, capacity is limit by your infrastructure, machine etc, there is sky-limit for finance business.

Just share experience,
I have considerably amount of AMMB, AMMB-C1 when it was Rm20+ time prior before the 1997 financial crisis, it was my star performance stock. go up to around RM40.  brows.gif  Do people know how much it sink after 1997? It was a painful experience.
From  brows.gif  rclxms.gif ->  shakehead.gif  mad.gif ->  cry.gif  doh.gif

Once economy turn ugly, finance stocks are vulnerable. Finance stock and high leveraged stock should be the one to avoid when economy turns ugly.

While most are focussing on Dubai, Singapore debts as a percentage of the GDP = 99.2%, Greece = 97.4%

"""By Matthias Chang
East European economies are tottering at the edge of bankruptcy.

Already, in the last few days, Greece is in turmoil and sovereign default is a real likelihood. IMF has weighed in on the issue and has demanded austerity measures, but Greece refuses to comply and remain defiant.

If Greece is in a mess, what will happen to Singapore?

Singapore has 99.2% of debt to GDP and its external trade has collapsed for good and will remain down and out for the near future, well into 2011 at the minimum. Singapore investment agencies have suffered substantial losses as a result of their dabbling in Wall Street’s toxic wastes. The monies in these investments are lost for good.

Here is an interesting question for a quiet afternoon.

I got my WEIDA divvy cheque the other day and banked it in...... rclxm9.gif

I have just had a call from my bank to tell me that the cheque has beeen returned unpaid because it has 'an old cheque number on it'.

Apparently after September all cheque numbers have to be in a certain format and the WEIDA divvy cheque was not in the right format so it cannot be cashed. rclxub.gif

What to do now??? hmm.gif

I don't think Pbbank wish to see, I suspect (my guess only), Pbbank would like to stay on as primary bank with acquire on smaller bank. The BNM's target is 5 banks, so Maybank, CIMB will be going to stay, the rest, depended on 'marriage" and acquisition.

Also, there would some political issue as well.

Call them, and ask advice from them, the company registrar.

They can issue a replacement cheque.

It is a bit tricky here, i'm ok with 7% but there is no reference price. Maybe after restructuring, 50cents will give a 7% yield laugh.gif that time i really kena trap liao doh.gif
Nevertheless, I take his words. I hope i'm not too naive...
If i'm not wrong Stareit holds a certain % of Starhill Global Reit... <--- need confirmation

Just monitor if there is any major shareholder changes in STAREIT..

Some hints of potential properties to acquire...
