I plug 2 ram into the slot was for testing.... as when I plug the 800 into it does not work So I plug in both and see whether it works or not. Does it means that the 800Mhz ram is not working fine???? This post has been edited by driots: Dec 15 2009, 01:41 PM |

Have you tried to plug the 800MHz one into another laptop? Maybe that module is faulty?

QUOTE(n305er @ Dec 15 2009, 02:32 PM) Just tried on Dell Latitude D630 which have build in ram of 1GB 667Mhz.When I plug-in the 800Mhz it does operating and it shows 3GB but under 667Mhz and not 800Mhz. Does it consider that the ram is not defective???? Added on December 15, 2009, 3:43 pmBTW I'm using Asus F5RL series Laptop. Could it be the model does not support 800Mhz ram???? QUOTE(driots @ Dec 15 2009, 03:42 PM) Just tried on Dell Latitude D630 which have build in ram of 1GB 667Mhz. Well, I think it shows 667MHz because you mixed with a 667MHz ram. When you mix with different RAMs, it'll always adjust to match the slowest one. When I plug-in the 800Mhz it does operating and it shows 3GB but under 667Mhz and not 800Mhz. Does it consider that the ram is not defective???? Added on December 15, 2009, 3:43 pmBTW I'm using Asus F5RL series Laptop. Could it be the model does not support 800Mhz ram???? |

If you use only the 800mhz ram and there is no display, then the motherboard does not support 800mhz ram. If you mix and it works, then there is a possibility the rams are running with the lower 667mhz ones. But the biggest problem you should realize is this. One of the rams will fail. I have seen this many times since PC100/133 days. Even some DDR266/400 matchings can cause either one to fail. I remember it was caused by voltage issue, even though there is no overclocking. The symptoms are overheating ram cards.

first of all, does ur laptop support 800mhz ram?
if ur laptop doesn't,,then u cant install 800mhz ram. stick to 667mhz lor.. Added on December 15, 2009, 11:01 pmsecond,if ur laptop support 800mhz ram and u have a 667mhz ram in one of the slot. if u install 800mhz ram,,it'll only run in 667mhz because the speed is automatically changed due to the another 667mhz ram installed. which means,,the speed will be 667mhz only.
