QUOTE(cherroy @ Dec 31 2009, 10:39 AM) Zonal marking has one serious flaw which I think several opponent has found out, ie. when you deliver the ball between the players zone, a lot of time, you will have free header because defenders are assigned to mark/protect their zone, but in between zone, confusion might occur or A might think it is B area, not A. I disagree, zonal was employed throughout RB tenure, that's like in the 6th year now. I think the problem lies in the players. It is very identical to Houllier's Heskey/Owen case, at first few year, they were lethal combination, once opponent learned and studied it, then the strategy no longer work, so does the zonal marking, opponent study and know how to exploit the flaw, I would say you need some variation to confuse opponent as well. Too predictable play, it just mean opponent is more well prepared than you. In zonal, defenders have to be 1st to the ball instead of ball watching. They can watch their zone, but the ball is not going to their head each time. Defenders have to go to the ball first. From what i observed, our defence are not really aggressive in clearing crosses this term. They are caught ball watching many times, maybe deploying 2 attacking minded fullbacks is the problem or other problems. |

Flop or not, its difficult to compete when you constantly need to build team when your rivals only need to add in those final jigsaw. That's why there's loads of chop & change.
As for young players, unless you constantly fork out millions on potential, best you can hope for is buy in quantities & hoping to strike jackpot. Even there's no Gerrards or Fowlers, there's always Leto, Anderson, Thompson or Warnock to sell off to fill coffers. This is what keep clubs running & it will always be the case. |

QUOTE(madmoz @ Jan 7 2010, 01:11 PM) no lah. the city of manchester is as crappy as the city of liverpool. Trust me, i lived there for a couple of years. Yeah, both are a crappy city to begin with Just that the other city down the M6 always copy whatever we does QUOTE(Everdying @ Jan 7 2010, 01:28 PM) king kenny is here to attract the liverpool youngsters back into the academy instead of running away to the everton one. QUOTE(madmoz @ Jan 7 2010, 12:59 PM) Well, a certain other team in red does this very successfully, and more often than not those youngsters are not bought, but recruited as boys into their academy. Everton does have few more gems getting promoted compare to ours. So yeah our academy staff were muppets. It's a pity that the Liverpool name doesn't quite have the same pull as before. Either that or our academy staff were muppets and did indeed deserve to be fired. Think of it, why most merseyside youths support blues? Fowler, Macca, Carra, just to name a few, all started as Blues. |

QUOTE(madmoz @ Jan 8 2010, 01:05 AM) We are linked to a Moses fella. Or at least it says so in that article. Quite a number of supposedly decent wingers/midfielders in there, English AND cheap. 5 mil to buy potential? Doubt we're in position to spend this kinda $$$ on potential alone. If we can, highly doubtful why we're not competing for signings of Walcotts, Ramseys, etc.p.s 5 million for that Moses dude who is 19, is English and highly rated. I'd say it could be a good piece of business. You just can't go wrong with having a guy called Moses in your side For that price, think Adam Johnson's a better bet, at least he has premiership experience. Is it a coincident that most of them are in the last year of their contract |

QUOTE(solstice818 @ Jan 8 2010, 10:20 AM) There's an article not too long ago that wrote on Rafa top 10 missed signing. That includes Vidic,Alves, Simao and others.Walcots and Ramsey actually included in the list...I can't bac the article or else I would have post it here. I know they're in the list, what i meant here is if we can afford buying potential costing millions, we'll already been competing for the likes of Walcotts/Ramseys instead of Pallettas & Barragans. |

QUOTE(gerrardtorres9 @ Jan 12 2010, 07:32 PM) We never really know what happened to robbie keane's case. There must be something within it i believe. Something hidden from all of us. We don't have money to pay for installments We as fans don't have much sources expect the media. Well that's the private part of the deal, undisclosed. Added on January 13, 2010, 10:45 am QUOTE(Everdying @ Jan 13 2010, 01:24 AM) well, obviously u cannot be captain while on the bench. Think that Redknapp had all but losing faith in Keane even before the Christmas party. The party just gave him excuse to bench him. The writing is on the wall when their gaffer keep on benching him even when fit.and obviously if you're on the bench and if you're still fit / never been injured before, means the manager doesnt like you and you've of cos been stripped off the captaincy. keane is definitely going the way of pavlyuchenko...and hes going to rot there until he finds his way out of spurs before this transfer window closes...which most spurs fans expect it as him going to celtic. QUOTE(solstice818 @ Jan 13 2010, 01:26 AM) Rafa ruined his career. He never looked as sharp and as confidence as he used to be after moving bac to Spurs.Screw Rafa Screw Parry la, he's the mastermind in bringing Keane over. This post has been edited by vreis: Jan 13 2010, 10:45 AM |

QUOTE(uNeVErwaLkaloNe @ Jan 13 2010, 05:07 PM) Well blame it on Bosman though never knew signing on fees will reach 12mil. thought at most around 5mil QUOTE(livingmonolith @ Jan 13 2010, 05:12 PM) i doubt the credibility of the article, there's nothing concrete really and it's 'according to Daily Mirror' only, so unless RB or any liverpool representative mentions anything about chamakh, i'm just treating it as a rumour. But Wenger missed out on Torres after scouting him for years, ended up with Reyes dude instead and even if it's true, i wonder if he's really worth the kind of money, my gut feelings tell me that if chamakh's really that good wenger would've snapped him up after so many reports of him observing the player. |

But Hiddink record at established clubs aren't that good. He's a disaster @ RM & Valencia. His time in Chelsea is to short to be judged.
