Misfiring Liverpool set to win the race for Real Madrid forgotten man Ruud van Nistelrooy

Liverpool are ready to take Ruud van Nistelrooy on loan for six months when the January transfer window opens.

The former Manchester United striker, who underwent a successful operation to have his tonsils removed yesterday, is desperate to leave Real Madrid to play regular football and be part of Holland's World Cup squad.

Liverpool are reluctant to sign Van Nistelrooy permanently but manager Rafa Benitez knows he needs someone to play alongside Fernando Torres to rekindle the Reds' season.

However, the Bernabeu hierarchy are determined to off load the 33-year-old on a permanent basis and any switch will rely on Benitez persuading the Spanish giants to let him have the striker on loan.

Van Nistelrooy is fit after a long-term knee injury but with Raul, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Higuain and Karim Benzema ahead of him his chances at the Bernabeu are limited.

Arsenal and Blackburn Rovers have also shown an interest in Van Nistelrooy but the striker is believed to favour a move to Anfield.

The Anfield club's debts are estimated to stand at around £240million, and manager Rafael Benitez last week suggested they were hampering Liverpool's ability to compete.
This is what i don't quite understand.
MU and Chelsea both have larger debts, yet they seem to seem have more $$$ to buy players vmad.gif

Because, Those 2 clubs you mentioned, let the profit gained went bac to transfer budget and ours are used to repay debt and the yanks expenses when they fly to Liverpool.

We pay their Hotel, flight and other expenses. sad.gif

And ManU and Chelsea didn't try to reduce their debt, merely maintain if I'm not mistaken while ours, we try to reduce it.

Plus, Chelsea's debt is owed to their own owner and not bank...So, that's an advantage. nod.gif

Both clubs are also already raking in a looooot more money than we do, esp the Mancs, which give them higher spending power. The stadium for one, we already lose out in tickets due to the smaller numbers of seats and in merchandising of jerseys and goodies all around the world.

Don't worry Liverpool will win. I don't know why the fans here keep condemning their team because of "a" lose to Arsenal. I think it's nothing to be ashamed of losing to Arsenal. Liverpool is still a very good team from my point of view.

When u see the second half display.. u know. Arsenal aren't playing great but yet they still can win us at anfield... vmad.gif

I don't think there will be a change of formation. Gerrard reverted back to pair with Mascherano and Benny in the middle of attacking play.
