Hi there,

I'm a newbie to av products and intend to get a sony projector, is it difficult to install?

Is there any settings or special procedures to set the projector after installation?

Thank you.

Special connector on 1 end or just standard RCA-RCA? If it's the latter....doh.gif

And how come still on RCA and not on HDMI or at least component?

How are you mounting the projector? Just putting on a shelf or hanging from ceiling?

If you're hanging from ceiling then you need to buy a projector mount and will probably need help to install the mount.

Other installation issues:
- deciding how far you want to put the projector
- deciding what height to put the projector
- adjusting the zoom to fit the image to the screen
- adjusting focus to get it sharp

I have this exact projector mounted in my AV room. The guys from AV design did the mounting for me. I supplied them a universal projector mount which isn't that good because the pole isn't long enough. If you want the picture to be perfect, get the customized mounting from AV design and they will be able to do a good job on mounting it for you to the ceiling.

Thanks everyone for the advise, i'm going to mount it on the ceiling.
Does the mounting location have to be very precise?

This is the recommended distance:

Throwing Distance 100-inch 3072 to 4664 mm

Does it mean that i can get a 100 inch screen at 3072mm ?
What if i install it at 4664mm? Would it cause any difference in picture quality?

if the projector had lens shift, then precise location is not necessary but recommended as in extreme lens shift position, you might not get the best picture quality out from your projector.

For mounting, there are 3 dimensions to consider:

1. Centering between left and right - try to get it in the center of the screen. Doesn't have to be precise because you can use the lens shift to move the image. But don't use too much lens shift, so as far as possible get it mounted in the center.

2. Distance from screen - your projector has zoom, hence you can play around with the distance. From the specs you mentioned, seems can get a 100" screen anywhere from 3072mm to 4664mm distance.

3. Drop distance from ceiling - some people recommend that your projector be at least within the top border of your screen. You can use the lens shift to move the image, but again don't use too much lens shift.
