I'm still reading reviews here and there, watching review videos etc. Quite a mixed review I would say. I'm comparing between HD2 and N1. Nothing much on hardware difference, almost identical and each has it's pro & con, but nothing major.

One of my primary reason to get a PDA phone (also come out as the highest percentage of usage rate in PDA survey) is GPS. Seems like Android support only Papago, but wonder when will it be available for Android 2.0?

Other than that, apart from faster (almost instantaneous I say!) response time, while HD2 still suffer some lag issue. Not as bad as HD, and in fact was a significant improvement from HD I say. But in terms of photo browsing, file browsing, switching tasks, there is noticable lag, nothing irritating though, just a gist of lag when compare with N1.

Again, I'm not familiar with Android, much has been said about its ability of customization. But seems like users need to go through a lot of (maybe endless) troubleshooting. Seems like the problem on the same model can be sooooo much different than other phone. It's not consistent can seems like there is not general rule or set of rules which can be use in troubleshooting this kind of problem(?)

Anyone has any say about this?

em..why would you want papago when you've got google gps for free?

First, Google map is only for map viewing, not navigation. And to use it, you need to have data connection. Meaning it's not free browsing. I have subscription to data plan, but knowing our Malaysia 3G connection, it's not always consistent. Some location if you can't have signal, or only edge or gprs reception..... seems like its going to be a painful experience. sad.gif

For file exploring, erm, I think it's a basic need. Not exactly something to shout-about for existing WinMo user, but for Apple user, its a huge leap. Poison from N1 not strong enough.. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Now, that's amazing... hmm, hopefully someone can share his experience as soon as he gets the phone (shahz!). Then again, it maybe limited to few big city (for malaysia). And map updates, who's doing it for Malaysia?

We have a lot of one-way street, fly-over/underpass, road closure, and some roads junctions are just plan messy. I've been using Garmin for some time, there are minor occasion where I still took the wrong turn. IMO, it's excusable, considering I will probably get lost.

Some reviews from Malaysia road user would be nice...... smile.gif biggrin.gif

Google navigation is only available for US at the moment, no word yet when the service will be expanded to other part of the world. There is a hack version at XDA that can be used in Malaysia but the Malaysia Map data is not always up to date ( since it is not officially supported yet ) and there are some minor UI issues too.

Yeah, this is exactly what I'm afraid off. I'm not exactly a google fanboy. And after reviewing some of the videos, N1 best compliment user who use google services extensively, like gmail (I'm using hotmail, yea, the java scripted page is horrible and buggy, but been using it for 10 yrs now, won't want to ditch it), gtalk (not a fan as none of my friend is using it), google earth (map not up to date, and google map cannot display traffic direction unless we zoom to detail map). These are the thing that use extensively.... I would need to switch everything to google (especially mail) and persuade my friends to use gtalk, if I want to maximize N1... haha.

About phone become warm, its normal under heavy usage and indoor when reception signal is low. However, battery that stay warm (or hot) for long period of time during charging is not good for the battery. It will reduce the battery capacity, and has chance of explosion. Normally battery get slightly warm when it approach full charge capacity. The fail-safe circuit detect peak voltage, and will start pulse charging intermittently (to maintain power usage). However if usage (I mean heavy usage) and charging occur at the same time, it may interfere the peak detection. Hence continuously charging the phone (battery).

Could be an overlook feature in N1? I don't know.

Did you say web-browsing speed is 'surprising'? drool.gif drool.gif

Honestly, I'm searching for the right pull factor to move from winmo to android. nod.gif I have been using Touch HD for sometime. Web browsing with opera, with 6 tabs (each pre-loaded with some pictures), scrolling, zooming, text reflow, it's time-consuming and frustrating. rolleyes.gif I browse the internet a lot, on the go, usually via 3G (Maxis).

Touch HD2 reviews on internet browsing looks very promising. Just how good Nexus one? Will it be so blazing fast and smooth that overrule my sense and drop winmo to N1? Haha.... Com'on shahz laugh.gif

Xtral, I do mean pre-loaded (cached) website. I like to load several webpages, disconnect, minimize the browser, and read it later. It happens a lot when I'm on the move, like waiting for LRT, waiting for people, waiting for food, etc. I don't have to quit any web browser when I need to reply a sms, email, receive calls, checking calender, making notes, etc.

This way, (by not connecting to 3G all the time) I can save a lot of battery life. Iphone cannot minimize doh.gif (?), because it need to quit it's web-browsing whenever the user try to do other stuff. (right? I'm not sure actually, only use my friend iphone several times only).

About support, it is only require when the phone is having a lot of problems. Problems, well, that are something which we are about to find out from shahz! laugh.gif
