guys, i want to ask. if i were to buy airtite capsules for my silver coins, can it be used with different coins as well?
eg, i have maples. what is the suitable size for it? can the airtite be also used to store eagles and philis? based on some resarch on google, maples use 38mm capsules and eagles/panda use 40mm capsule. but i still dont understand the 'ring' function in the capsule... anyone can help? |

QUOTE(chunyen2020 @ Sep 7 2011, 12:14 PM) Nope, it can't really suit. Yeah, figured out that much.Depends on the design, some is specifically meant for certain coins. Some eagle capsule is like you can fit maples after removing the 'ring' from the capsule. Airtite with ring » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Airtite without ring » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Guess that the ring is to protect the circumference of the coin? Maples - must use 38mm capsule, either "direct fit" or "ring type" Eagles/Chinese Panda - must use 40mm capsule, either "direct fit" or "ring type" Ring Type Air Tites with coin inside ![]() Direct Fit Air Tites with coin inside ![]() Direct Fit - u can use bigger capsule to keep smaller coins, but it will not fit nicely. the coin will be loose inside. Ring Type - I dont think we can simply remove the ring to fit other type of coins. it will not fit nicely. instead, we can buy the inside foam which is suitable for our coins, eg 38mm ring foam for maples and 40mm ring foam for eagles and pandas. the capsule is basically the same size. Do we have a chinese silver group? no lah. everybody is welcomed. but language may be the barrier here... anyway, u can try join and see for urself. i noticed there got alot of islamic dirham mints like TnT silver, Kelantan's, Perak's as well as Public Silver... here in LYN, we mostly discuss about internationally recognised mints such as from Perth Mints, Canadian, chinese etc... |

QUOTE(SGKSY @ Sep 8 2011, 01:47 PM) ya lah, no need to rush to buy or sell. I am not coin dealers. Actually, i prefer to keep all my 100 pcs for long term. If i sell at low price, i may not able to buy back at lower price or same price as we don't know when the production will resume and the spot rate at that moment. Q4 is the peak period for silver and gold. If ppl offers me crazy prize, i dont mind to sell. if u can get good stock at good price, why not become a dealer? For those who are not intend to collect a whole lunar series, buy 1/2 oz enough liao lah. I, personally, also think that the premium is too high for both size of dragon coins. |

QUOTE(SGKSY @ Sep 8 2011, 10:18 PM) i don't think the high price can maintain forever. 1oz dragon has a limit of 300k pieces only. It'll be very limited and rare. once it's sold out, it'll carry a good premium to its owner. The 1oz is sold out in Australia, but we haven't seen the large distributors in US and Europe selling it. Some more, i still see some countries still accepting to pre-order 1oz silver and the estimated shipping date is mid of Nov. Is it a hype? expect to see the price of 1oz drop to USD60-65 per oz when US and Europe start selling the 1oz coin. I don't believe all the coins has been sold out. It had been allocated to the disrtibutor. 1oz Rabbit took 6 months to be sold out. 1oz dragon 1 day only ? Is it possible that the large distributor are holding 1oz stock together and want to make ppl rush to buy other sizes, like 1/2 oz, 2oz, 5 oz and etc? That's why we saw that the perth mint has suspended the pre-order of 1/2 oz, 2oz and 5 oz Above is just my thought, your opinion ? but, 1/2oz, 2oz, 5oz, 10oz and 1kg coins will be unlimited until end of 2012. so, by may or june 2012, the price will be quite stable and the premium will be just a lil bit higher from the spot price only. however, since the demand is now overwhelming the mint capacity, the pre-order is put on hold for a while. after this, they'll open orders for 1/2oz first, then 2oz and so on... source: http://www.perthmintbullion.com/blog/blog/...gon_Orders.aspx http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/f05192f8#/f05192f8/4 |

QUOTE(SGKSY @ Sep 8 2011, 10:56 PM) Ya, 1oz is limited. However, it is curious that 80-90% of mintage are allocated to overseas, but so far, we do not sell any large distributor selling 1oz silver. Even want to pre-order also not allowed. maybe their 1oz stock hasnt arrive yet? But i saw an online dealer website in Taiwan issued an announcement today saying that the release date and price of 1oz haven't confirmed by European and US distributors. Once it is finalised, they will make announcement. That means, European and US distributors has not really started selling 1oz? You can search ebay and find that there are only 2 places selling 1oz silver, Germany and Australia. Other places still not available ? Anyone can explain? Even US also hasn't released yet. There is only possible reason, European and US distributors are holding stock. Anyone agrees with me ? |

QUOTE(SGKSY @ Sep 8 2011, 11:16 PM) I also don't think it is possible. Perth Mint allocated the quota based on the sale statistic of past 4 years series 2 coins. They didn't accept the offer of any parties to buy all mintage. China does issue their own dragon coins, they do no need to buy Perth Mint. For most of the chinese in China, they only buy china issued coins , cos only china issued coin will increase more value over time. For example , 2000 ase can be found at ebay for less than $100 dollar. 2000 silver panda costs you USD2k AND MORE. i dunno abt chinese dragon, but chinese panda is limited production. that's why it'll become more expensive in the future.Silver coins issued by countries other than china, after 20 years , it is just slightly over the spot. But silver coins issued by china , after 20 years, it might be double , triple of the spot rate. This is the difference. coins like eagles, maples and philies are unlimited, that's why the price is like that. QUOTE(basSist @ Sep 8 2011, 11:28 PM) chinese panda coins are limited. 2001-2009: each year around 500k-600k 2010: increased to 1.5mil 2011: around 3mil chinese are sure clever. they know the demand is there, they just simply raise the production limit. perth mint are more concerned about their name, therefore they wont unnecessarily increase the production... |

QUOTE(prophetjul @ Sep 9 2011, 07:39 AM) The 1 oz is sold out ex Perth Mint. if price from dealer is already more than $100, it may be more than $150 to reach general public... It was known that the dealers were fighting for the distribution of the 1 oz gold and silver because the mintages were limited. Problem was the dealers do not know how many pieces were allocated, thereby the later selling date. i guess they are also hogging the pieces to wait for higher prices. i do not see $65 for the 1 oz silvers. In fact i dont see it below $100. |
