I'm not investing in paper, my friends and I are trading on spot market for gold and silver. Knowing the long term trend of PM is uptrend, we only take long positions when there are opportunities. When prices retrace downwards, we do not enter trade at all. Trading against the long term trend is risky, not to be greedy, we'd rather forgo the short position opportunities. So when price is down, just relax and start accumulating more physical.

Having said that, anytime is a good time to buy physical silver. Do it like a savings plan, buy a certain amount every month with your extra money to get the cost averaging effects. That will save you the worries about price fluctuation coz your costs would be averaged out anyway.

Add on shipping and tax, it's pretty much the same price. If can buy locally at the same price, might as well save the trouble and buy here.

And if you're buying lots of them, it's even more important to make sure you're getting a good deal. Then it's better to get it via Singapore. Just 7% tax instead of 15%.

but if you're buying lots of coins, like a monster box, it may be worth the effort to make a trip there to collect them yourself. I read from somewhere that if you buy even more than that, like a huge amount, some may be able to arrange secured delivery to you in Malaysia.

that would depend on your quantity.
for small quantities, shipping cost is gonna be the killer. its better to buy from local dealers here is you're buying small quantities.

tax % is independant from forex difference. whether SGD or MYR, you still pay 7%. Same amount.

Somebody asked me this question before, what's the difference between COMEX price and spot price? Why do we always refer to spot price when we buy or sell silver and not COMEX price?

I suppose you are referring to PAMP. No, under normal circumstances PAMP always demand higher premium so when you sell, you still sell with higher premium than other bars. Provided you can find a buyer looking for PAMP.

However, should financial armagedon really comes, then the PAMP will probably be just as good as other normal bars, coz nobody has money to pay for the higher premium anymore.
