I've recommended quite a few Satellite L745 nod.gif
Well, they are rather nice laptops, cheap, yet decent nod.gif
The speakers are soft and the surface/screen is glossy...
Build is solid, touchpad is good, and damn the keyboard is ergonomic and good to type on thumbup.gif

Don't judge GPU performance by VRAM only, its just a marketing gimmick nod.gif

at first i tot i've decide to take the Asus A43SM
after go round and round the Pikom today
i just can't resist the Toshiba eventho its price is slightly higher yet the GPU is lower than the Asus
then i'm thinking to get the famous L745,
but when saw the L755 beside, it totally catch my eye and the L745 just suddenly look so normal
and so i got myself a L755!

RM2099
i5-2450M
Win Home Premium
8GB RAM
640GB
GT525M 1GB

free gift is 4GB ram (L755 original come with 4GB) and Belkin backpack

any initial step i shud do for my new Toshiba? biggrin.gif

I experienced slow startup, lag, totally hang, after only using it for few times.
My Reel Time now already in error and cant b used.

After I update my W7 and norton IS,
It seems much stable nw

Bt still v slow startup

I see alot of toshiba application running in background right after startup,
Could this b the reason of slow startup?
Possible to dissable any of these?

now only i know W7 32bit can only use 4G RAM max
so my free 8G upgrade is totally useless

after the GPU 1GB ram reserved, my system only have 2.74G usable ram show in system properties

and with just firefox running now, my L755 already constantly using 1.3G, about 50% of my ram...
is this normal?

Yeap, all Toshiba units come with W7 32-bit at 1st (well, most sellers will choose to startup W7 with 32-bit to save time during purchasing)....
Usually its less than 3GB RAM (mine was 2.98GB) usable for a 32-bit system...

Still, no worries since you can still change your windows version to 64-bit yo nod.gif

The protocol (written by me, a long time ago) is here laugh.gif
yup, the salesman actually asking me want a 32bit or 64bit
but i was worry about any software or program doesnt work with 64bit yet so i choose 32bit doh.gif

so far u encounter any software not work with 64bit?
think i'll go for 64bit else the extra 4G ram will just slp inside my L755... sweat.gif

anyway is it normal that my laptop using 1.3G ram with just firefox running?

Yeah, that was what they always say doh.gif
They said the same thing to me when I've purchased my Toshiba Qosmio F60 more than 1.5 years ago laugh.gif
Software incompatibilities will not be a big problem (C'mon Toshiba, all the other brands are running on 64-bit Windows anyway) laugh.gif
But you should take note if the programs you used are less popular- specific programs used in Bioinformatics, Engineering etc.

Nope, I'm not having any incompatibilities issues at all after converting to 64-bit nod.gif
thanks for the input!
yeah actually i concerned about Solidworks i using but after that i found out my Solidworks installation actually come with 32bit and 64bit version to choose from
so no issue right now, will do it this weekend! rclxm9.gif

ya still the same question, Win7 startup using 1GB of ram, normal?
i see my old XP, only 300mb+ hmm.gif
