It happens every 10-20 seconds when watching movies... and sometimes randomly (my guess is that it happens when Nvidia G310m kicks in)...

QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Aug 21 2011, 11:01 PM) Not really surprised, seemed like al the GPUs are downclocked Maybe this causes the M500's problem as well since I remember trying 3DFuture Mark and my [M500] scores are way lower than normal Added on August 22, 2011, 11:54 am QUOTE(janson_kaniaz @ Aug 21 2011, 11:13 PM) Its is an awesome machine yo~Just that it looks rather bulky and the design patterns is a bit awkward Added on August 22, 2011, 11:55 am QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Aug 21 2011, 03:33 AM) ehm, start play movie? Ubuntu cannot play any videos that I have or the error during movie playback also depends on mood ? Linux live cd, those linux installer, e.g. Ubuntu, when your burn it to CD/flashdrive and boot into it, you will start in environment like desktop, can start using internet and such, kinda like test drive linux without installing first. Try if movies run well or not. I just try and play the sample movie and no problems Yeah, the issue sometimes depends on mood T___________T This post has been edited by [PF] T.J.: Aug 22 2011, 11:55 AM |

QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Aug 22 2011, 12:49 PM) Now the problem seems like its hardware problem since you have tried many drivers. Oh I see... yea I guessed its hardware problem (but its limited to all Toshiba M500s) as well since other Asus notebooks also have this Nvidia G310m without any problems In attemp to fix it, might need to find how to trigger the problem, and its seems like by playing movies. Which mean triggers the GPU on higher clocks/temp. If you could try to limit or fix it clocks on lower speed, see if got the same error or not.. I thought the GPU is already downclocked? O____O So how do I limit of fix the clock at lower speed sifu? |

QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Aug 22 2011, 12:59 PM) Those overclocking software? Like MSI AfterBurner or nVidia System Tool.. Alright, will try MSI AfterBurner when I go back home today Is error only occur when you play movie on fullscreen? Or window mode also the same? Games also affected, right? The error will occur randomly, but most of the time its more frequent when playing movies (whether Full screen or not)... Can't really play a lot of games But when tried on The Sims 3 and Batman: Arkham Asylum, no problems at all |

QUOTE(9M-MAS @ Aug 22 2011, 04:55 PM) Yep, I experienced this too. They act like I'm being a burden to them. Sorry Toshiba, I ain't buying your products ever again. The thing is that they say that Teledynamics is just a representative of Toshiba, anything official need to contact Toshiba Singapore, which I did but no replies whatsoever And because of the nature of the problem, which is with Nvidia G310m, they say that its Nvidia's problem But then this is the only problem case I have with Toshiba... all the others went well and the guys at Teledynamics are very friendly and helpful~ Its actually my fault for not researching enough before making the purchase |

@lee_what sifu,
I only need to reduce the Core and Shader clock via MSI afterburner? Do I need to do anything else? And how much do I need to reduce? Sorry ya, I've never done and over/underclocking before |

QUOTE(phamtom X @ Aug 24 2011, 08:42 AM) hi to all toshiba users, Yeah, actually the guys at the repair centers are right... LCD replacement is not cheap to start with, and summore this is a relatively older model... it'll be more expensive as well did anyone of you still keep the functioning toshiba satellite model A50? because my A50's LCD or LCD inverter is already not functioning and i have to use external monitor in order to see the display. can the part still be obtainable at this time around as i know the laptop is already over 4 - 5 years already as i told my parent that the part no longer produce by the manufacturer anymore and yet they still insist me to keep track for the availability for the repair as i asked a lot of the repair center in penang and they say the part is really hard to be look for and is not worth the money and time for the repair Better use the money for repairs on a new laptop. 4-5 years is already very good for a laptop's lifespan |

Toshiba
Satellite A665, i7-740QM + Nvidia GT330M@RM3299 [Harman/kardon], backlit keyboard But its not worth it as the specs are very outdated and weak... you might want to consider others instead |
