I don't own a Toshiba NB netbook.
However, I've tried 1 before, its user friendly, and nicely built. Other than that, it is still a netbook with specs which are too common.
I'm wouldn't really recommend netbooks because of their slowness and very small screen size
If you really want to buy a netbook then Toshiba would be better. Samsung is not particularly popular so not very sure about its reliability

Toshiba NB series are cute laptops
However, perhaps you may take a look at Toshiba Satellite T110 which is an 11.6' laptop with a slightly more powerful processor. Off course, it will be more expensive (RM2200) I would prefer the larger screen, design and also the slightly better performance

Well, the choice is ultimately in your hands, regardless of which model you buy, do let us know how you feel with your new laptop o~

Is your graphic card NVIDiA GeForce G310M? Or your M500 is an earlier version 1? O____O
Because there isn't any update for the G310M yet at the moment.
Did the download occur completely? Perhaps some intermittent problem, try downloading again if possible and make sure the laptop model and GC is rightly selected.

Ya, T110 and T130 sure are expensive because of the CULV processors used
Yup, Toshiba laptops are often more expensive than rivals with the same specs but its the user- friendliness, design and reliability which matters most
Agreed, cannot expect too much from netbooks, their mobility alone is enough to awe people
Well, most claims cannot be achieved 1 haha....
Usually the claimed 12 hours battery life, in reality only can last up to approximately 8 hours But its still an impressive number though!

Their answer is that it is best to let Windows 7 decide what kind of partition works best for the machine

There is only 1 memory slot for the NB305, meaning that the maximum RAM can only be 2GB DDR2 RAM. Yes, do upgrade to 2GB RAM, it will help a lot especially for netbooks Try to negotiate with the shop people to see whether can get any discounts since the netbook only come with stock 1x1GB RAM.

Well, the i3 variant + the GT330M will definitely be able to handle DOTA with no sweat at all hehehe!
The i3 F60 cost RM 3,799, may be a lot cheaper during the upcoming PC Fair
The i5 F60 costs RM 4,799. Local warranty extension for 3 years = RM639.

Er, Average gamer + Uni, I don't think the Qosmio F60 is quite suitable because of the weight and size; unless your cousin has his/her own transport, and is willing to sacrifice mobility for performance.. then only get a F60. I'm a Uni student myself hehe

Hmm, I've also heard from a couple of people about burnt motherboards on the M100, M200 series. Same happened to me when I played L4D without using my cooler pad Serve me right haihzzz..... There seems to be heat problems for earlier Toshiba units, including the M100 and M200. Well, fortunately they are discontinued already ^___^ No heat problems for the M500 and Qosmio F60 though keke

Sometimes buying a laptop depends on luck, but more importantly, it depends on usage I have no regrets when my M100's motherboard burnt after 2 years because I've been "thrashing" it like hell haha, Maple from morning till night and played all games during that time

Oh ya, heat problems may also be due to accumulation of dust on the laptop fan after prolonged usage, it is imperative that you clean it as frequently as possible Not forgetting the fan of the cooler pad too ^^

Well, survey has shown that ASUS is the best, followed by Toshiba hehe

If all the specifications are correct, then its worth it, for a Toshiba unit that is, there are probably other laptops with equal or better specs for the same price i.e. Acer, DELL, ASUS etc.

The Satellite L510 with T6600 2.2ghz, 4GB DDR3, 320GB, ATI HD5470 costs RM 2,699 ar (including 2nd and 3rd year local warranty)
Have you personally seen this laptop? Are there shops selling with this kind of specs? I've seen 1 or 2, but not sure the specs are as stated above or not
The whole laptop is made from matte surface, so it won't be glossy at all and thus, it won't collect fingerprints

Not a bad choice if Toshiba is the brand you desire ^^

Yup, it sure is slim and solid. I like it a lot too, especially the design on the surface of the palm rest, very nice!
Its a smart thing to exclude the DVD drive cause I can't really remember the last time I used the DVD ROM haha, everything is transfered via pendrive and external HDD nowadays Wah, Toshiba got sell external DVD drive? cool~

Well, I've noticed that Toshiba really put less focus on their carrying bags nowadays (probably to cut cost). The previous 14' carrying case were very high quality 1, now its not... perhaps Toshiba thinks that everyone would buy a new backpack instead of using the carrying case? haha!
But the Qosmio's sling carrying case is still superb in terms of quality... too bad I won't be using it cause the 15.6' monster will break one of my shoulders haha

I'm not very pro in terms of cooler pads. But my previous readings have resulted in me buying the Cooler Master Notepal U2. There are 2 variants, 1 is for netbooks (8.9-12') like the T110 (I think is around RM 50+ if I remembered correctly), while the other is for 14'- 17' laptops (RM68).

Now, the pros and cons:

Pros:
1. The fans are adjustable, meaning you can choose to place it anywhere, especially under the heat sinks of your lappy for optimal cooling! Also, they are totally removable if you want to decrease weight
2. The whole surface is made up of small holes for better heat dissipation, material is aluminium.
3. Powerful fans
4. The fans are easily cleanable, noneed open this and that
5. Its not exactly expensive compared to other models
6. You can remove the fans and place your laptop "into" the cooler which will act as a protective cover

Cons:
1. Only 1 USB "extender"- dunno what its called, U can connect another USB to the cooler's USB port
2. Cannot be used on lap, needs flat surfaces
3. The rubber looks cheap haha. Or its just me

Perhaps there are better models out there but I think this would be good enough already since I've no heat problems gaming with my F60 while using this cooler pad Still, its better to ask around and see whether there are better alternatives 1st, cheers!

I've introduced 3 Toshiba L510 laptops for my friends, good to say that so far no problems
However do take note that how you use your laptop will affect its performances. For instance, if you do not provide sufficient aeration/ cooling for your laptop during intense gaming, hardwares may burn. This is applicable to all brands of laptops, especially gaming ones. Apart from physical stress, heat is the main enemy of laptops

Which L510 model are you interested in? There are some models which offer free 2nd, 3rd year warranty as well as free RAM upgrades

My friend owns a L510-S4318B while my gf owns a M500-S433. The main differences between this 2 laptops are:
1. The processor. i3-330M in L510; i5-430M in M500. i5> i3
2. Graphic card. ATI HD5145 in L510; G310M in M500. G310M> ATI5145
3. Speakers. Standard speakers in L510; harman/kardon speakers in M500. Very very very big difference
4. Surface buttons. Normal buttons on L510; feather touch buttons on M500.
5. Built quality. M500 is significantly more solid than L510.
6. Fingerprint reader and smartface technology on M500. Not much use though haha XD

Both laptops will meet your requirements, with the L510 only suitable for light games whereas the M500 can support moderate- graphic games
I've no problems with Toshiba laptops so far but still it depends on how good you take care of it and a little bit of luck

If budget isn't a problem, I would choose the M500 not only because of the specs, but also because of the solid build. (Local warranty extension to 3 years = RM439)
There is currently a promotion for the L510- S4318B though. Free 2GB DDR3 RAM and an extra 2nd year local warranty (perhaps still got other extra promotions during PC Fair). So local warranty extension to 3 years will be RM299

Hope you get to choose the best one

Its best to get a cooler with adjustable fans so you can place it directly below the heat sinks.
Normal coolers simply blow air at the bottom (usually center portion) of the laptop so its not very efficient. Still its better than not having a cooler at all

Do take note that battery life is influenced most by temperature, so if possible, try not to attach the battery while using A/C. The heat from the laptop will significantly decrease the battery's life
The only good thing about glossy surfaces are that they will never look old
The lappy is hot during normal usage or under strenuous tasks?

The built in softwares aren't really useful hehe!
Hope you will like your lappy more and more as time passes
