Guys, im curenly im using htpc to watch my HD movies which i downloaded from net . i dont have any speakers at the moment and use lcdtv's speaker as output. but now im planing to buy a cheap 5.1 speaker like those sold in HK video. now im wondering if i connect the speaker to my HTPC 3.5 jack will i able to get the 5.1 sound ? can the mkv movie with DTS work well? my mobo have built in 5.1 sound card. im looking for someting cheaper cos. im not really into sound thing. just need something decent. sumore with babies in house i cannot go louder

but the pc have only 1 jack rite? or i need to get any diff cable

If PC support 5.1 you should got at least 3 connector.. Some mobo will use mic & line out as additional connector. SO need to use sound card software to define whether the connected device is mic & line out or additional speaker.

most probably u need to configure ur audio software to b 5.1 rather than 2.0 or 2.1 so that the port of mic n line in will change to output..
