My simple guide ..

1. Unbox the device
2. Check for original stickers and do a checklist on the device package
3. Check SD card specification class
4. Insert SIM card (to test) + Insert battery (turn on) .. shake the phone (to test the battery loose)
5. Check light leakage, below the front camera
6. Snap a dark / black surface and check for white dots (LCD dead pixel check)
7. Make test call, ask a friend to answer / speak test
8. Check the firmware and other fone details via *#0000#
9. Check phone IMEI matches the box *#06#
10. Loudspeaker test
11. Check other features included in the phone (optional)

.. if you satisfied with the Zitron / AVAXX @ Original Nokia 5800XM then goto step number 12

12. Pay your device amount, get a dealer stamp on warranty card .. go home safely
13. Come to this thread and rape you device ..

1. Have set back to online mode?
2. Have you checked the homescreen settings on "shortcut" mode, not basic (u wont get shortcuts in this mode)?
3. You updated the new OVI contacts? (If so, remove and restart ure device, your fonebook will come back alive)

basically, device halt at Nokia startup logo screen is because of SD card .. only SD card, no other errors

no worried abt the Hello OX .. a Hard Reset will wipe clean your fone ..

unfortunately, tats ure final choice, dont worry .. i just hard reset my fone fr 12th time yesterday

u know wat, make a copy of ure SD card (fully into ure computer), this kind of problem cause by memory card and not fone, so, in case u face this problem again, just format ure memory card, restart and copy back the memory card data from pc to memory card and restart .. hard reset will just wipe everything off and u need sometime to build back ure fone from scratch

for me i have 3 backup modes

- Contacts, settings, messages only (via Phone)
- PC Suite Full backup
- Memory card manual copy method

nice ..

but my problem arise everytime is just tat incompatible applications, becos i throw all apps n games for testing to keep in my collection .. tat make my fone stuck in the middle ..

other than that, mine is good too ..

U create it? I never ask u to create ure self in the \Private unless in \Data .. please read the Instruction.txt included carefully, as u can see, tats my personal screenshot, not taken from Internet ..

And, dont worry if the menu structure erased, u can find the original structure for ure backup in the archive, under Original folder

1. SIM Card is full, in the Messaging app, hit "Options" and then select "SIM messages", thats the only way, upgrade your SIM Card please dont use the old version, there are higher capacity SIM Cards from your telco. Btw, your SMSC number is correct, nothing to do with that .. and always remove unnecessary messages or u could point ure messages to be stored in memory card instead of phone memory.

2. Call logs may have been disabled, please check the log settings, LOG -> OPTIONS -> SETTINGS (Check the duration, set it to maximum)

Backup Contacts, Messages, Settings Etc.

The Nokia 5800XM has a backup feature embedded. You can program it to be automatic, such as daily, weekly etc. and remember this because I strongly recommend you to activate this after the any recovery to save yourself.

Indeed these files have the .arc extension, but I've never been able to open it on the computer and remember, these files are not compatible with PC Suite. Copy these backup files elsewhere on your PC. and keep it safe, it is in such situation that you are pretty nervous and you make bad mistakes, losing your last chances to recover piece of data.

Have your memory card of your Nokia connected directly to a PC, back it up using simple copy or ZIP of the entire card. Now you should have find your .arc files in the Backup folder (hidden folder) of the memory card.

For these kind of backup, I do personally recommend you to backup Contacts, Messages, Settings, Calendars (Optional) and Bookmarks (Optional) and do not backup your personal files (User Files).

To backup from phone:
1. Go to the standard Nokia File Manager.
2. Click on Backup.
3. Then Options -> Restore.
4. Select the desired, such as Contacts, Messages, Settings etc.
5. Click "OK" to start backup process.

To restore the backup:
1. Go to the standard Nokia File Manager.
2. Click on Backup.

My personal advise is to never trust any electronic devices for your valueable data. Remember, these mistakes are not done by the device itself, its always our mistake and lack of precautions.

Before u do soft/hard reset the data will still be there .. only after u do soft/hard reset the data will be gone (in the phone memory) .. the data in memory card still will be there.

Firmwares are flashed in to the device's Z:\ drive, where by Z:\ drive is ROM and cannot be written by users, it can be done by special tools by Nokia itself.

u cannot see Data & Private bcos ure fone is not hacked

it is advisable to lock ure GPS coordinate while ure static, not moving.

check the call log, it'll show the SMS sent icon, u can goto OPTIONs there and filter by SMS/CALL/WIFI etc.
