Got my P.Beyond today. Connected with my Yammy 863 and Bravia X, Picture ok la (up to 720p only) but the sound seem like not up to Dobly Digital Standard. Dunno whether i select the wrong setting or not. It is better to watch mkv movie (AC3 or DTS) rather than wathing movie in HBO HD. EPL not yet ready in HD coz ESPN is not yer aired in HD in Astro.

Astro installer are getting richer, 1 B.yond customer they get RM80 from astro, later everybody one to be installer ha ha.

M3A Compression is worst than last time M3, Mpeg4 for B.yond average at 4.5Mb/s consider ok la for HD Broadcasting. A$tro sholud align back their M3A to reduce Video Gain for SD material.

I really don't understand what you are saying here?

Measat 3a is only available to Astro B.yond decoders that have had the correct installation done so they can tune to the high frequency range transmitted by Measat 3a. Measat 3a is not available to the older SD decoders as they cannot tune the high frequency range and they can only receive DVB-S not DVB-S2.

The HD channels on Measat 3a (from my testing using a PC card) are at 8Mbits/s using DVB-S2 modulation in MPEG4, for modern encoders, which I assume Astro has, give a really good HD picture.

Your statement of "sholud align back their M3A to reduce Video Gain for SD material" does not make sense to me, can you explain further?

(Just to save further comment, my PC card can only look at the signal and it's parts, I cant see any video or hear any audio as it is encrypted. I use the PC card as an analyzer professionally to check the make up of a satellite transmission.)

Im talking about watching SD (Standard Defination) channel in B.yond. Picture is terrible burning, stratchtable and 'sakit mata bila tengok'. It worst than previous set (Not HD). Last time the set (Not HD) M3 transmitted using Mpeg 2 and some channel transmit at 9mb/s is better while watching SD material. That is my statement about.

Another thing the Dolby Digital Sound (5.1) also sucks, (Echos) when u watch HBO HD. If u set to Analog than ok, but you cannot experience in 5.1. Other 3 channel in HD is OK when setting to DD5.1

I think I get what you mean, if Astro was to increase SD MPEG 2 to 9Mbits/s then we would only have 3 channels per transponder, a total of 30 channels... so which 70 channels would you propose to remove in order to do this?

The SD channels on Astro B.yond are the same Measat 3 transmissions that was received by your old SD decoder, they are not specific transmissions to Astro B.yond.

My Astro B.yond gives perfect 5.1 audio, no echo just true 5.1. You should check your audio settings, you could have some post processing that is causing the effect. Some cinema audio systems have mode that turns stereo in to an artificial surround sound, you could have this switched on. As with the TV you should turn off all enhancement modes on your amplifier.

I would also check that you have not got crossed wires, i.e. red on the amplifier connected to red on the speaker, if red is connected to black then you could get all kinds of phasing issues. Also, make sure you are using the digital audio connections, not stereo analogue.

Im using Yammy 863 connected to my Sony Bluray, Dvico HDM7000A, PS3 and x360 with HDMI cable. All my souce tested in Dobly True HD, DTSHDMA, DTS and AC3 without any other problem including Echo Sound. But watching HBO HD the Echo starts. This is my setting.

Home>Setting>Your Setting>Digital Audio Setting>Dolby Digital 5.1 (Digital Only)

When i set to Stereo (Analague and Digital) then ok but not in True 5.1.

Based on the pictures that you have post, from the back of the decoder, there is a digital audio port.Does it uses the same cable for normal sound or it needs a new cable, like the video composite cable?
*
Yup it digital coaxial output. Normal Cable will do, provide that your amp support this too.

from what  i know and gather  its no point keeping old decorders and smartcards. Astro has put a stop to this. The previous smartcard exercise was done to wipe off all nonsense and  the final touch is this beyond box ! I have a Max too  i am giving it up though I bought it for RM900, when comes to astro we just have no second choice do we ? hmm.gif  nod.gif

I also bought Astromax last time around RM900, What to do just let them take away la. What for to Pay RM160.00 (Total) just to maintain your old Astromax. Some more cannot used anymore with a new Sim Card.
