rg59 has inferior shielding, in fact only 1 layer, signal will get attenuated over long cable run, not suitable for satellite dish

get rg6

if the current cable we used is RG6
means no need to change the cable?...just change the dish and the decoder only?

try negotiate with the installer, but if astro is giving out 20m for free, why not just take it

it's wired up at the side of the ceiling...very neat, clean and unseen
i'm just afraid those astro ppl come and ruin it and install lousy-ly
u know la...they want to finish it fast thn just open pull the cable over and didn't even close it back..didn't do it nicely

astro never provide any offer for their loyal customer,
feel quite bad,
the only reward they provided to me is:
free 1 month astro on demand subscription on last december...

1080p requires a huge bandwidth compared to 1080i/720p , think of an economist's point of view instead of an engineer's point of view - it would be pretty expensive to get the cables , equipment and other stuff. Its just a matter of time , in the world currently the preferred broadcast is 720p for sports and 1080i for other shows and stuff

The good news is that SPORTS channel is finally getting progressive scan. Meaning that motion should rapid and it should be pretty good ;P
*
Sport channels like ESPN are better off with 1080i instead of progressive 720p. High-motion sports are better with with the higher frame-rate 1080i streams instead of the lower frame-rates of 720p.

BTW, most sports channels broadcasts in 1080i, at least the OTA satellite channels in Germany and France. The Sky HD that broadcast EPL matches in UK is also 1080i. History Channel HD in Europe is also 1080i (I have some of their TS here for testing), only National Geographic is still 720p.

The general rule is 1080i is for sport channels or movies or anything that shows fast-paced action scenes. 720p is mostly for documentaries, where still-scenes are more common.

wow, new info for me. Thanks. And if the TV has excellent line doubler, 1080i should produce better picture I suppose.

Someone said it differently

If you’re a sports fan you would want to opt for HDTV that supports 720p. Sports channels like ESPN and FOX broadcast in 720p and you get to enjoy smoother picture quality in fast motion scenes. On the other hand, channels like CBS, HBO and Discovery HD use 1080i to avail viewers of crisper picture detail especially in shots without much motion.

haha,
the 1st time i install astro,
i also have 2 wait at least 2 weeks to get the service after installed the decorder in my house,
i called them many times, they said under processing,
and finally i also talk to them with bad mood,
and the girl just said sorry sorry,
feel a bit sorry to the girl,
but i really hate them "update the system",
so cannot update my information and bring their programme to me.
