I think it all depend on your area. If in your ara have lots of application but only one installer available at any time, of course it will take more than 10 days.

For new application, try register online first than contact astro after 2 days to confirm.

I asked the installer today, they just pick who they want to install, i'm the 2nd customer for today..he went to block A for the 1st customer around 10am then me..then another one also at block B or C ...guess it depends on luck..

The reason why I am not going with TM on HSBB is simple. I dont want one service to be tied down. If my Internet is screwed , my TV is screwed. So at least now if my internet is screwed , I've ASTRO and if ASTRO is screwed - I've internet.

ask them whether they hv assign d installer for u...ask d installer number...sometimes d installer can be lazy...

Astro should bring in AXN HD next year hopefully...

My setup, I had normal decoder upstairs. Hooked up to normal TV. Wires concealed in the wall so I had a dish on top of the roof.

I had a second one downstairs. I didn't know actually that you can share same dish so had another concealed wiring done and had to install second dish front of the porch (wires too short to pull all the way up).

I didn't request anything special from astro. I guess they knew that I had 2 astro decoders (cos second one signed up under 50% promo - principal account). So they gave me LNB with 2 points.

I think i have to terminate the sport later on hehe not watching any

ok..finally today (day13) astro gave me an installer who is still doing the job (yday's installer retired 1yr ago!) and installer called for appt. said that astro is pushing him to install in my house first in the morning b4 anyone else (rasah jaya, seremban). must be the magic words SKMM and KDN which i used. so he is coming at 10am to install. YAY!

installer also said that he installs at around 10 to 15 houses/day in seremban, works until night and on weekends.

my summary:
dec 14: applied via cs
dec 16: t&c call
dec 26: day 10, started war with astro call center managers and byond team managers.
dec 28: given installer details but installer alredi retired more than 1 year!!!
dec 29: given a new installer, appointment fixed
dec 30: day14, installation done (hopefully!)

will update once installed.

Any of you with Byond are using this dish?



I thought the new one was suppose to be slightly darker and larger than the old Astro dish. This one is connected to my Byond.

From Lyngsat.com, HD Channel from Astro currently not transmit using MEASAT 3A at all... It using Measat 3, just like normal SD Channel..and the polarization also still the same, not Horizontal, but Vertical again just like normal SD Channel...
What is the different for HD Channels is their compression method..normal SD using MPEG 2, and HD was using MPEG 4

Well lets face it...if DirecTV in US were able to compress HD channels to an average of 6Mbps at 1440x1080i....astro can do it too...not just that, it might be 1280x1080i..not 1920x1080i or 1440x1080i lol

so it is as it should be, as reported by newspaper astro rented measat 3A's 6 transponders out of 12 for HD broadcast, astro may rent another 6 transponders if business is picking up

the rental is very expensive, us$1.8 million per transponder for the first year
