For those who need to differentiate between old Astro dish and the Byond dish, if the slight (5cm) size difference and also the colour is not obvious, look at the Astro word on the dish, on the old one the letterings are black on the lighter grey background, but on the Byond dish, the letterings are white on the darker grey background.

Anyway, if you look at the sticker at the back of the dish, there will be a description on that says "Astro outdoor unit 65", which should mean that this is a 65cm dish versus 60cm old dish diameter.

And I post my Byond single LNB photo again (posted many pages back). Only one cable coming out of the LNB.

Looks like there are 12 transponders from Measat 3 in my case, all are labelled as VL - vertical low, and 5 transponders from Measat 3A, labelled as VH - vertical high... That means polarisation is always vertical, I think you can also tell from the shape of the dish (old and Byond) which is actually elongated vertically. Here are my signal screens first one showing the Measat 3, actually from 1 to 12, I only took the first page showing 1 to 8 only, second pic is for the Measat 3A, from 13 onwards and also two user defined transponders to lock on...??!!

Yo, regarding your question (way back many tens of pages ago, based on the photo I posted) on whether my upstairs neighbour's dish is the 1st generation Philips dish, I saw the same dish at a house earlier today, full frontal view and I can recognise the strange looking LNB, and the dish has the word Philips on it, so I have reasons to believe that my neighbour's dish is the 1st gen dish... Man, you are very observant!

What is your signal reading? Is it 225 ?

I just checked the back of the dish, it says 60 ! ! ! I got the wrong dish!

I think you have the right to call back your installer and demand the 65cm dish.

My signal is just only 201 during daytime, it fluctuates on 198, 201 and 206. But at night it's 206 fluctuating between 201, 206 and 209. I also note that the toot toot sound (for strong signal) will only come on at 206 onwards. I am using the first line (Measat 3) as the entry point, will go and try a Measat 3A entry point later.

Note that my cable length (cable not changed) should be quite long, I suspect about 18 metres.

Also, I have a friend (in Penang also) who had his cable changed and yet his signal is just 168 only even though the dish is the 65cm dish.

So long as the signal quality and bit error rate (BER) is perfect, you should be able to watch your shows without interference.
