We could have achieved the 300 target if EVERYONE actively help in this petition. Just do the maths, one floor has 8 units and we have an average of 20 floors for each block. If everyone can help a little by just signing a simple form, just 2 blocks are more than enough to fulfill the target
*
Mathematically yes in an ideal real world scenario based on the current occupancy rate. Unfortunately, not everyone thinks the same and some just could not be bothered. shakehead.gif

People be careful......last weekend my friends car tyre and rim was stollen .parked at level 7B. Visitor .
Really don't know wat these guards do. Only good at clamping residents cars. And management says can't do anything because area was not covered by CCTV .
So shameful.
*
Your friend's car tyres got stolen and clamped and you all still paid the fine to get it un-clamped? And why was only 1 tyre stolen? It sounds more like a mischief or sabotage act.

adamxx and artsyfartsy, thank you very much

thanks again and looking forward to joining the MF community

Hi Jon,

I've been staying in MF for the past 1 year in Block A. I guess the rest of the ppl have replied to most of your question but I'll give my response to the first 2:

1) I understand that there is a petition to install telephony and Unifi broadband services. The petition requires 400 signatures if I am not mistaken. What is the status of this petition?
- Updates from the management is that there has been positive developments with TM to get Unifi installed via fiber infrastructure. It has been a long challenging "battle" to go this far but rest assured that the management together with the JMB committee is working closely with TM to get this implemented. I was told that some residents were rather uncooperative in completing the petition forms as a mark of interest (even though they were interested to get Unifi) and this has hampered us in getting the required numbers. Basically the more ppl we have filling up this forms, we will be in a better position to get Unifi with a lower cost from condo maintenance fund. So its a win-win situation for all. So if you happen to buy a unit here, do us a favour and complete the forms as well. cool2.gif

2) For those of you who are using YES, what is the cost and have you experienced any problems with YES?
- I'm using YES postpaid plan S109. comes with 21GB quota (6.5 peak, 14.5 off peak). Signal has been stable and fast as there is a booster at every floor. I generally get 4-5 bar signal on my YES Zoom device. There was only once that the wimax service was down after a heavy thunderstorm. A call to yescare support got it rectified the next day.

Hope to have you as part of the Midfields family soon! smile.gif

what about standard Landlines.  As u may be aware, complaints was send to the Ministry of Housing that YTL has not complied with the Last Mile Requirement for Public Utilities which includes Telephony services. u can refer to post by Nebosuke
*
Err.. my basic understanding is that if Unifi is installed via fibre optics cables, it comes with Internet, phone (voice) and IPTV as a package. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The complains lodged by Nebosuke is for MF2, which currently under construction, has a chance of getting things rectified if action is taken by the Ministry and YTL listens.

I doubt YTL will do anything for current MF residents now and the best solution to get the infrastructure retrofitted is to approach TM directly and hope the cost is reasonable.

How many occupation rate of condo now? is this 400 application realistic ?
*
Occupancy is around 70% from the total 772 units. I think its achievable with proper awareness and if all residents cooperate. smile.gif

Went to the office today to pay maintenance and got update from management that only 15 forms were received so far since the notice was up. They and JMB have also made an extra effort to drop copies of the forms in resident's mailbox.

Its gonna be hard to achieve the target numbers if people continue to be ignorant. shakehead.gif

i attend the AGM last november, i remember they got mention about the repainting the building after cny.
so far from that meeting, one of those things they have solved is installing rain cover facing the lift.
*
The building repainting plan is still on. (though very much delayed by SPYTL).

Painting contractor has already prepared the gondolas and pending approval for the permit, it's scheduled to start mid October in stages with Block A first.

I'm having issues watching Astro HD channels since last Saturday (Block A). It says "Service Currently not Available". However, all SD channels are ok. I have converted to HD using the contractor LS Ang last year.

Anyone else facing the same problem?

i heard block B2 is the most applicants. This road shoe I think is to bring up the awareness to all midfield residence so that haven't apply can apply before the implement.
*
Yup that's right. The roadshow has 3 purpose:
1. As an awareness campaign for Midfields residents to know about the availability of Unifi in the condo.
2. To create demand and residents to fill in the forms and meet the target numbers by TM (estimated 400-450).
3. For residents who have previously filled the forms in management office to check/edit their details.

Negotiations are already in the final stages and once we meet the target numbers, then the installation cost can be significantly lower to get Unifi implemented as there will be a subsidy from TM.

If we don't meet the target, Unifi will still be installed by year end, but at a higher cost per subscriber (not sure how much yet). And as you mentioned earlier, to manage it from a cost perspective, there is a high possibility that TM will provide the exact ports for the interested subscribers only and perform the internal fibre cabling to those units. Resident/Tenants who don't subscribe now but decide to do so in the future will have to go thru this whole process from the start without any guarantee.

I experienced the same! Noticed its more prevalent at night or past midnight only. I actually attempted to check out the unit above mine to give a friendly reminder or see if got kids playing marbles only to realized that unit is actually vacant.. shocking.gif

Scientific explanation which I find acceptable: pipes that expands and contracts during the day due to sudden temperature change. smile.gif

Just curious, has anyone of you here experience marble dropping noise coming from the units above you at night or during midnight. Sounds like kids playing marbles but who play marbles these days?

It's really loud and annoying and seems like a norm in HDB too....

There's a hiccup in the installation which need to be solved via EGM as the installation involves unforeseen additional cost. We all will be receiving a letter regarding that matter.

We are almost there but just need to solve this issue before the installation of cabling can take place.
*
EGM notice is out. Check your mailbox guys.

Please make every effort to come as your attendance and vote is important to the preservation and enhancement of our condo property.

For those who has been asking all this while "When is Unifi available in Midfields?" - Now it's the time to contribute and make your vote count in ensuring a successful implementation of fixed fibre Internet with TM Unifi. smile.gif

Anyone has issues with their Astro HD channels where it intermittently flickers blank and no pictures for a few seconds, and it seems to only affects certain channels?

Thanks MyKi for speaking out the hearts of the residents.

Getting Unifi into Midfields was really a challenging experience with many parties working hard in the background to make it a reality it is today.

Honestly, I do not like Alex too, as I find him arrogant and boastful. But credit should be given to him for his part and $$ investment in setting up our fibre infrastructure from scratch and pulling strings with TM in approving a budget for FTTH HSBB in our condo.

Hope fellow residents on Unifi are now enjoying the service after years of waiting. Touchwood, its been pretty stable and fast so far!

Cheers..

Hi Kai,
I'm one of the residents here.
If you offer yourself to assist for setting on the infra 1-2 years ago, I will be the first one to sign up with you as we are indeed of broadband services badly.
However, when we approached the agents from TM, Maxis, Time n etc, all of them just told us off because there is no infra and they are not willing to invest time & effort.
Seriously i do not like Alex's attitude as he can be impolite. However, I have to respect him that only him & his partners are willing to help us where we need one.
We have been waiting for long but finally he has made our wish comes thru.
With that, i think he deserve to take our case and make the $$.
It believe this is considered fair to him.
If you really want to come into this territory, you should respect him and ask for his permission instead of undercut him and 'steal' his customers here.
Sorry if i have offended you but i just want to share my view on this matter.
