Hi to all the big bro and big sis out there, I am a fresh grad and juz started job hunting!

I applied a few positions tru jobstreet and I have been eagerly checking out my application status almost everyday, but then i found out that it is not always helpful!

like for one of my case, my application status is shown as "NEW" and my resume shown as viewed 0 times by the comp but yet i recieved call for interview. And my major concern is the status "IN THE PROCESS", i can see that there are candidates who are shortlisted by the company under the category "UNDER CONSIDERATION" while my status is still "IN THE PROCESS", if I am not shortlisted then shouldnt my application status be "UNSUCESSFUL"?? but if i were short listed, will my application be "SHORTLISTED" or still remain at "IN THE PROCESS"??

I feel so stupid to check my status eagerly every morning (coz i notice that the update is not via real-time but they only update it on next day early morning) if it's nth to bother about. any opinion on this???

By the way, any good suggestion for job hunting beside jobstreet?

Thank you thank you
hoilok

Well don't put high expectations over them. Those are merely procedures. When you see 'No Update' while there are few ppl 'Under Consideration' then u know that they'll KIV you.

The status 'Not Successful' only appear in your status - at the end when they confirmed/ hired someone else. Till then the status is usually In Process, No Update, New etc.

If you're shortlisted, your status will say: "Under Consideration" but it's also normal if that doesn't happen. I get calls for interviews when my status says "In Process".

You can try other recruitment sites like JobsDB and JenJobs.com

Yea lo, now i feel extra dumb for being so kan cheong abt my application status, sien niah. anyway, there are a few applications of mine which directly shown as unsuccessful once they viewed my resume, I rather them be that way than giving me false hope and wait and wait.

I went to one of the interview and i think i did OK, mite have a chance, but still hoping to get into other company which i applied and yet still no update from them.

so wat i can do now is only wait??

Yeah mine too is the same.

It says "Kept For Reference" previously, but I got a call the next day. Not all of the company will update the status.

Some of them even don't look at the jobs applied through jobstreet. They want you to send email in.

most hirers will not update the status and just call direct.

this usually is for those company using internal HR or no HR staff so they dont bother to use jobstreet status to track their job postings.

hehe...funny thing, normally i will 'withdraw' from an application if the status is 'not successful'...

just dont rely 100% on it...some company will update, while others dont give a damn...

This is normal "working culture" in Malaysia.

The best and effective way is if you receive no respose, call them up after 2 weeks you have applied, or send an email to follow up.

Not jobstreet's fault....it's the company. I've had some companies put me as Under Consideration and months go by without them even calling me so don't depend on that too much.

Even thou it looks informative and nice, but you need someone who key in the updates. Jobstreet wont have the time and energy to call up one by one and ask for updates, while companies dont bother to update as long as they get the people, case closed.
