How old are your guinea pigs? I used to have two, but one died due to stroke during a very heavy rain. The surviving pig is now living alone in her cage for a year now... Fat and healty. And very affectionate towards me & my family rclxms.gif

She is now 3 years old.

I used Bengy's pellets and so far my pigs are okay. But i changed it to another brand already... and my pig prefers fresh veggies compared to her pellets. Bah tongue.gif

anyone here is a GP breeder? and wht kind of breed?

Last time want to breed, turns out my Momo is MALE. Hence, Male and Male... become whistling.gif ...

Then Bobo died due to stroke during heavy rainstorm (damn thunder) ... and left Momo alone.

Owh, haha. cos when i bought one got 'male' parts, the other seems to be erm... flat. And even the lady said one male one female, i bought it from the dingy pet stall at KL Sentral underpass last time cos i pitied them under the hot sun! And was kept in a small bird cage, they can barely move around. Now all the stalls demolish dy. Still happy i bought them though smile.gif

Well..no worries, my dogs bark everyday, so all my gps and bunnies are get used to the noisy environment.
*
When i had my other GP (i used to have 2, one died already), i had a dog too (also died last year due to old age, 13.5 years cry.gif ), they are very used to the barkings and loud noises we made since we keep them in our living room. But one unfortunate day, it was raining quite heavily and the thunder actually scared them shitless. They hid in their makeshift tunnel, and my dad went to sayang them. He realised one of them are VERY scared and was shivering all over. So he sayang them by giving them veges, and realised one of the GP's hind legs suddenly paralyzed, cant walk towards the vege and was breathing very heavily. Took him out, and sayang him somemore, within 15 mins, no longer breathing. it's like the signs of stroke cry.gif

These days when it's raining thunderstorm, my dad will make sure the other surviving GP doesnt get scared shitless. sad.gif

Hmm....my GPs are housed outside some more....last night also got lots of fire works nearby until 3am.  This morning my car was fulled of firework ashes...luckily my GPs and bunnies are all ok wor....

Btw, I do not provide hide-out for my GPs, they all are forced to get use to the environment.  One thing I observed is, if you provide hide-out space for your GPs, they will forever scare and won't bond with you.  Hehehe...my gps and rabbits are not afraid of my dogs.  One of my dogs can open the GP cage door and eat up their food  or their poos.  I think my GPs get used to this crazy monster.
*
So far my GPs bonded with me quite well and the surviving GP is allowed to roam around the house sometimes. I guess it's how you interact with them smile.gif

lol, too small for the poo to fall down.... should change bigger.... or use mat.
*
The poo used to be able to go through, now so fat already, shit also fat laugh.gif . So everyday, i will sapu the shit. The reason we did this flooring is cos usually the pee is the cause of the messyness. Poo + pee = very sticky. Poo smells! Dried poos are okay nod.gif We tried a bigger gap one last time, but she had trouble walking due to the gaps (get stucked or imbalance), so we changed it back to the previous one.

dear you give the wrong type of fooding for her ...
*
You know, for the first year of me getting a pair of GPs, that was the food i fed them ohmy.gif ... Not many people have GPs at that time, about 3 yrs back. After that I slowly change their diet to the normal hay pellet as they prefer that (else, they pick the variety they like and ignore the rest). And of course, lots of hay throughout their life smile.gif.

Now my parents pamper my GP (one died last year due to stroke) like their own grandkid. Love fresh food (fruits, vegs, etc) and hay. So ... wont die after 2 months geh... kua tongue.gif

Sorry to hear about your GP. Take it as a lesson, treat the next one with more caution. smile.gif

My GPs have never paid a visit to the vets, i used to have 2 GPs. Now left 1, she (actually male lai de, but late bloomer, but so used to calling him a female!) is 3 years old this month! rclxms.gif

The other died last year, 2 yrs old sad.gif . Cause unknown, suspected stroke cos it was raining super heavily, and was shocked with the loud thunder. Died an hr later.
