i am new with my guinea pig. he doesnt eat hay and doesnt drinks from the bottle.
any idea what to do?

i am looking for a sheltie/peruvian/texel gp to accompany my gp now.
i am from ipoh. anyone with info, pls let me know.

my troy only eats pellets. not interested in hay.weird...

ooo... after nearly 5 days, troy finally ate the hay! yipee... just now only.. i am giving alfafa hay.
i guess the pet shop i bought it from did not give hay, only pellets and water in a bowl. troy doesnt drink form bottle.
still teaching.
but he is good. i line the play pen with newspaper, he doesnt tear it! i guess it all depends..

but i find he has funny white stuff that does not come off on his black fur. any idea?

what type of hay to feed young gps until what age?
i read they stated alfafa for young, adult timothy hay. so how old is considered an adult?

1. was wondering what to use as bedding - i am using cat sand and wood shavings. but got to change as they smells. i have 3 gps.
i find they like to pee and poo where they eat or rest/sleep.is that common?

2. can i train them to only pee or poo at a corner?
i line the area where i cage them with newspaper in a big cardboard box.plenty of space to run.

3. i find they do not like the hay after i left it over night. any reason? i bought timothy hay chopped and put the hay in a bowl.

by the way, anyone knows where to get cubes to make guinea pig cages? i saw online overseas they do their cages with cubes and cloroplast.
i cant find the cubes anywhere. anyone knows, please let me know.. thanks..

cant really find them either( said to be sold at tesco and daiso).. so i jus use those metal type bbq gril sold at jusco to do the fencing and cable tied it to some coroplast..

another thing, if i feed only hay and pellets is it enough for gps without the vitamin c tablet? thanks...

2. can they drink water from the big water bottle - the ones for dogs? i saw u are suing them... sounds ok to me.. maybe my gp small dont use it yet.

wanted to enquire my guinea pig after i bathed them last week,
i find one having dandruff on the body - seems itchy as she is biting her fur.
another has scaly ears - i think its fungal.
any idea how to help them?
i bathed them with baby shampoo.
i have a male which i did not bath - no problem so far. i clean their cage every day...

1. i have a short hair gp - that is the one which is itchy and has an eczema spot - and i put some cream.
2. the other is a abby - only ear scaly - i also put cream.

i bathed it with warm water and using johnson and johnson yellow color shampoo.
need to use vinegar?

i dry them with a hair dryer...

well, the hair dryer i used is only cold air blowing.. so ur suggestion will be to bathe them and towel dry them only? can? will they catch cold?

anyway, the abby with scaly ears is getting better. amazingly very fast can heal with just cream.

the itchy one.. well, not itchy but i put cream here and there.. see how.. thanks a lot...

i used anti fungal cream. i think its miconazole.
anyway, thanks a lot for the advise.. hopefully ok...

sounds like it is having skin problem..
does it have dandruff around the sides or perimeter of the bald spot?
think it needs to go to a vet.

mine i tried putting cream first. when it got bad, the vet fixed it.
now its one the 2nd dose of medication.
improving.. at least the hair is growing back.

i cleaned my cage everyday also still has cos one piggie i bought had the problem and spread to the rest..

well, if u could take pix of the problem maybe we can understand better

i tried before clipping rabbits teeth - its okay if they are used to it...
anyway juztiny, u mean u bath your gps every week?
is the anti - flea shampoo for dogs too strong for them?
