learned classical guitar under yamaha syllabus, in my opinion, the guitar songs selection in yamaha book is more interesting than ABRSM.

i wish i had the luxury to formally study music. i only studied for less than a year then my teacher quit on me. since then i self studied.

this isn't related to the topic but imma share this anyway. LOL.

i bought my yamaha cx40 5 years ago. while my brother was doing the transaction, i started playing random songs in their pianos. after a few songs, one of the staff approached me. and offered me a job as a piano teacher right there in that store. i was 20 years old, still studying at a university. so i couldn't do it tongue.gif

until now, i wonder what they teach in music schools. lol i still wonder how my self training can be matched up with formally trained students.

Yamaha classical guitar student here. I feel that my teacher teaching like too slow, can't blame also, half an hour per week only.

Is it normal to rise 1 grade per year? Or should it be faster?

IMO, for individual lessons, the more hardworking u are, the faster u improve.

I improve in skill but exams, I'm pretty much constrained to 1 grade per year. My teacher say don't rush sweat.gif

That's why I constantly find some fingerplucking pop songs to learn, and also those really nice classical songs.
