Hi, I'm wondering if anyone holding CIMB Direct Access cards can help me on this.
I'm thinking of applying for a CIMB Direct access Mastercard (the one that is for Professionals, not for Graduates). But I have a question: Is it still true that DA cards cannot be used for internet purchases? (Or has that changed since the SBB days?)
According to their website, DA lists "Virtual MasterCard" under the "Benefits" for the cc for for Graduates, but it doesn't list it under the ones for Professionals.
And yet, I notice there's a link for Secure e-Pay on the CIMB Direct Access website. So I'm very confused. Do we register the "Virtual MasterCard" with Secure e-Pay or what? If it's already "virtual", why the need to register?

QUOTE(ronnie @ Sep 19 2009, 11:08 PM) DA Virtual Mastercard had been discontinued. We can now use the DA Visa / Mastercard for Internet purchases via websites with Verfied by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode Thanks much for your reply. Good to hear that.

I'm thinking of applying a credit card from CIMB. Any idea which is better, the current CIMB free-for-life credit card or Direct access? I should meet the requirement for a classic card for both - just wondering which to apply.

QUOTE(Eugenet @ Oct 24 2009, 04:42 PM) Najib, I am canceling my card at your brother's bank (CIMB) and I am keeping the Maybank card.
Good idea. I second that! I'm probably going to do the same too! When I got my 2 new DA cards last month, i have at first intended to switch my primary card to DA and cancel my Citibank (to take advantage of DA's petrol and hypermkt rebates). Good thing I haven't cancelled my Citibank yet, I think I'll revert to my Citibank now and cancel DA. With the RM50 fee now, I think it's easier to maintain 1 Citibank than 2 DA cards. QUOTE(vin_ann @ Oct 26 2009, 08:52 AM) Any 1 start the cancelling process already? expect huge volume of ppl cancelling and ended delay in process and hope the bank wont delay until 1st Jan 2010. Waiting for the CIMB DA to adjust the RM200 petrol back to the original bill amount, then I'll pay my cc bill. Then after I pay the cc bill, I'll cancel my card.

QUOTE(ronnie @ Oct 26 2009, 09:21 PM) Why go cancel it ???? Just wait for the banks to absorb the RM50 service fee. RM50 is a lot less than a customer's worth. If everyone sits around and wait - govt will do nothing. Policy will go on, banks will heed the policy and charge the service fee and we'll end up having to pay. If more people cancel their CC now, at least we can hope that they will do something about it. I just paid my CC bill, and faxed in my cancellation letter to CIMB today, took me more than half a day because their line was busy... Next on my list will probably be my Amex Gold credit card. I actually like this one very much esp for petrol, but it's no use paying RM50 for it cos not many stores accepts it. This post has been edited by starglazer: Oct 26 2009, 09:39 PM

QUOTE(ronnie @ Oct 27 2009, 08:26 AM) Credit card service tax may be absorbedBanks likely to come up with a scheme for users PETALING JAYA: Banks are likely to absorb the RM50 service tax on credit cards, considering that they already provide cardholders with rebates worth more than this. I like this article Source: http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?f...59&sec=business QUOTE From the article: "Hence, it is understood that banks may come up with a scheme where only users who spend a certain amount on the cards will enjoy a waiver of the service tax..." LOL... This looks like it's going to encourage even more credit spending! What would happen if people who usually don't meet that "certain amount" starts to spend more just to meet the criteria to enjoy the waiver? People spending beyond their affordability, even more credit card debts would arise... I know it doesn't make sense to get into cc debt just to get an RM50 waiver, but you'll have to admit, there would be some people who will do just that... considering that there are already people who only pays the minimum pymt every month...
