Guys, I have a couple of questions here. Quite new to the CC scene, so forgive me. notworthy.gif
Maybank gave me three cards, with combined credit limit. Visa Petronas, Maybankard Mastercard Gold and Maybankard American Express Gold.
1. Is there any difference between American Express Gold and Maybankard American Express Gold? The two cards look different also.
2. I have Maybankard Mastercard Gold and Maybankard American Express Gold. How many years I am excempted from paying the annual fee? I just got the cards last month. I know that the Petronas card is free for life.
I've emailed them asking about this, but I thought of asking the sifus here too about it. Thanks in advance!

1. The AMEX Gold loyalty programme is Membership Rewards while Maybankard American Express Gold is TreatPoints. Two different rewarding system and catalogue.
2. Regarding annual fee, it's pretty subjective. By practise, both of your MBB cards are not entitled for free annual fee waiver. You can request for waiver when your cards reach its anniversary. You could bargain for it by threatening to cancel the cards or how much you have charged to the cards.

Thanks for the clarification bro. Will clear the annual fee thingy with them and if confirmed no waiver, I'll just cancel the two cards. I have the Petronas card as my main CC. When picking up the cards, the officer actually told me 2 years of fee waiver, but that needs to be confirmed. But I want to apply for another card as backup after the cancellation, and the AMEX Gold looks pretty enticing. Free for life, 5x points for petrol, books, etc. The DA Mastercard looks ok too. Which one is better?

The Petronas VISA is free for life with absolutely no minimum swipe needed. Not too sure for the other two cards.
Which AMEX Gold do you have to be exact ? AMEX Gold credit card or Maybankard AMEX Gold credit card ? These two cards are different. The former is free for life while the latter is only free for the first two years.

DA Mastercard is quite ok. Their rewards system is pretty good with lot of choices for gift redemption. There are lots of discount too.

AMEX Gold. I have the Maybankard one, TP is great, but the AF turned me off. Thanks for the reply bro. Now deciding between AMEX Gold and DA MC.

After deliberating, I've decided to convert my MBB MC and MBB Amex Gold to both the Ikhwan cards, Petronas and Amex, as I want to focus only on one points system, both on TP. Backup card will be DA MC. Sending the app tomorrow. Thanks guys!

Guys, how long does MBB take to process a conversion? I'm converting my MBB MC and MBB Amex to Ikhwan Petronas and Amex. Sent the form to Maybankard Centre last Monday. Conversion shouldn't take long right?

It's two weeks now since I submitted my conversion form to Ikhwan Amex. Will start bugging them next week for prompt action.

Maybank gave me three cards. So the question now is, which card by Maybank is the best and should be the one I keep? So far, the Ikhwan Petronas looks to be the one..
BTW !@#$ and double mid finger to Najib!

Yea. That is the language style, to be polite, because during the presentation, he is actually presenting to the Yang Dipertua Dewan. Hence the term, "mencadangkan". Rest assured, that it will be implemented.

Like on cue, just a day after the announcement by Najib, my conversion to Ikhwan is approved. Both the Ikhwan cards (Visa and AMEX) appeared in my M2U already. I will hold on to them first, pending further details from Maybank regarding the RM50 fee. Worst case senario, I'll just keep my Ikhwan Petronas Gold, and probably CIMB MC Gold. More than enough for me.

Your AMEX Gold Credit is not the Ikhwan Gold Credit Card.

If that's the case, my combo is more prefect than yours. tongue.gif

9) I can earn TP from both Maybank Visa Petronas and Ikhwan AMEX Gold Credit. No seperate Membership Rewards.
*
Ahah, we have the same combo, hehe. I'm just waiting for both my Ikhwan cards to arrive. My conversion is done, and the cards already appeared in M2U. Will hold on to both first, coz I don't wanna miss out on Ikhwan Amex's 5X TP on fuel, as Shell's RON97 is my favourite. Their RON95 sucks though. The Petronas one better. Will probably hold on to both, no matter what MBB decides to do with Najis' order.

bro..how long does it take for the conversion to be done?

Submitted my conversion from thru snail mail. After about two weeks, the cards appeared in my M2U. Your present cards can still be used until you get the new cards.

How about the accumulated TP?

Does that got migrated too?
*
I'm still worried about that, coz it doesn't get migrated in M2U. Will clear it up with them later.

When I collected my Ikhwan cards today:
Officer: Eh, you don't have to cancel the other cards you know. You can keep them. Different cards different benefits.
Me: No point to keep too many, as the credit limit is combined. Besides, I have another reason..
Officer: And what is that sir?
Me: Najib.
Officer: Hahahaha. (Straightaway signed on the cancellation form, no more questions)

btw bro..did they call you before they proceed to approve the conversion?
*
No. I found out through M2U. They will also send a letter to you informing you of the approval. But thanks to the excellent service by Pos Malaysia, I got the cards before the letter arrived.

BTW, should Najis go on with the plan, I really2 hope that they will only charge per customer per bank. So you can have combined limit cards from one bank, and charged only RM50. Can take advantage of different benefits. The Star made a huge noise about the service tax. Front page some more! Bravo!

I think they will still approve a Gold card for you, especially if your salary uses Maybank. They will adjust ur CL accordingly.

Any comments on Affinbank's cc? They have the lowest finance charge, at 9.99%, with some cashback for retail purchases.

How about the Ikhwan cards under Maybank Islamic? Can qualify for the contest also? Coz they say there only for Maybankard customers. Should be eligible also right?
