(1) I'm just curious, how much credit does Platinum & Gold card users get?

(2) I read in newspaper, some people have credit card but they don't use it at all. Won't the bank make noise? What's the point of having credit card if you have no intention of using it at all.

Some citibank gold card customers get RM20k credit limit. (after a few years working)

It is not good to get this kind of high limits anyway, especially for young graduates, they are the ones who do not have sense in spending, buying honda city at their first job. They will only realize this after at least 2~3 years in the real world, owing RM100k++ to the bank.

Nowaday when graduate comes out, they have to bear study loan, high city living cost and the lure from the world.

After sometimes, they will see that even RM2k loan is not easy to pay, unless you are willing to live poorly for few months.

Stay low and you are cool, get the chance for debt-free life..

I have a Citibank Gold Card, which does not have much benefit.

Can I convert it to Citibank Cash Back Gold Card?

Citibank charges RM30 for early settlement.
My installment will last middle of next month.
In order to save RM30, i paid in advance.. that means I have already settled all one year ago.
But officially it takes until next month to clear.

Honestly I don't like the idea of paying installment.
I prefer paying cash.

She said citibank may find out a way to retain all customers..

since my usage with Citibank is nice, so I just keep it for sometimes..

any reason for the rejection? Which bank he applied for? Maybe international banks will have better acceptance rate for foreigners.

citibank just increased my credit card credit limit to RM25k. Kinda scary figure for me. Going to terminate it soon and the credit increase is too late... tongue.gif

haha... mine is 19k.. smile.gif

Added on November 27, 2009, 7:13 pmToday I just faxed in letters to cancel 3 of my credit cards.

Now only have two from two different banks.

Keep two for emergency purpose only.

one RM19k and another one 5k..

More than enough. Thinking of reducing the limit from RM19k to 8k, will it be advisable?

yupe.. just cancel and keep two is a good choice.

two cards are needed as backup especially those who travel a lot, with different banks and visa/mastercard.

credit card usage is unavoidable if you are going to book hotel, book flights, travel. It is convenience in the sense that you do not need to bring a lot of cash to buy things.

but for those who cannot control spending and want to use cc as a form of long term loaning, better you cancel all the cc, will save you a lot.

Try to keep a habit to repay everything asap,
The best is when you finished shopping and come home, do a online transfer to clear all the amount up to credit limit.

I only use cc when I'm sure I have that money.

I think Citibank CC is quite customer-oriented.
They are specialized in Malaysia CC services.

For me personally, I won't keep all eggs in one basket. If MBB system or terminals experience technical problem, all your MBB cards will be rejected. It has always been good to keep a cc from different bank as a backup.

Yes, i agree with you.

Try to keep two CCs from two different banks.
Even better if you have one Visa and one Mastercard.

Not only banking system, you card might be faulty at the time when you need to use it, especially at overseas, where you can only bring limited cash, and you have to pay all hotel/car rental expenses.

Boon closed my topic ask me  to post here pinned =(

K, juz want to let everyone know.

I've been MBF credit card users for 6 years.
Credit limit is 3k.
I apply credit limit upgrade to 4k because I want to buy a notebook that cost RM3,500.
Rejected. No reason given.
I have a few times late payment but the next month I pay double the amount required.
5 years over my credit card expired. They send me a new one.
I open letter. It's shining gold.
I check online credit limit. Amazed it's still 3k.
I send email to them in a sarcastic mean of describing my friend.

My friend Citibank "CLASSIC" credit card users for 3 month.
Payment good auto upgrade limit. No question ask.
They called him and give him a special promotion on a loan of 9k with lowest interest rate that pay back on his credit card monthly.

I'm amazed. MBF credit card. NEVER GOT ANY GOOD BENEFIT CALL FROM THEM EXCEPT LATE PAYMENT!
If I don't get a good reply later, I'm going to cut it and change to Citibank.

p.s. Forgot to add I'm actually ranting here lol. Really ma. I really want to ask them, you give me a card painted in gold but limit is still the classic limit why not you just give me the classic card, I don't really feel I'm having a gold card. zzz.

I understand late payment, but I didn't just pay the minimum, there are even times I cleared the whole credit card. Somemore late payment they charge me interest they gain i lost wor =.=!! *sarcastically they didn't appreciate my tips (interest late) payment xD
*
You can actually pay RM500 cash and pay the rest with your credit card.

By the way, I have RM18k limit.
I dun know why they want to give that limit to me who pay off everything.
They did call me to offer loan, but I know the loan is not good for life.
You spend what you earn, that is how things should work.

Never enjoy when you have high limits, but rather you have enough cash in saving account, rite?

By the way, you only have one card, so you are still under control.. smile.gif

You have another alternative which is to get a Debit Card, check out the Debit Card thread and you'll note PBB Electron and Day2Day can use paypal. Debit cards are not taxed RM50 but there is an annual fee.
you open a thread to post above? what is your point? And for 6 years you never apply for another CC when you not happy with MBF? As you mentioned, just go get another card lah.

Having said the above, I can understand why MBF did not increase your CL, you must understand that RM3K CL is very very low and yet you can't even make RM150 (5% of CL) on time and have bad record payment history. Yes, Citibank Card do have all kind of "special promotion" loan (like blank cheque) but before you utilize/use these kind of "benefit", better ask yourself if you can pay back as the interest will be high.

I don't know why bank wants to encourage us to take loan.

Some one called me: "We borrow you 11k, you can use it for business, whatever, no need to sign agreement also, just approved through phone."

That is what my standard answer: "Sorry, we don't need it."

I think borrowing is easy, but repaying back is so tough. I never take the instalment loan anymore after I paid 18 months of about RM150, feel like so long. Then I decided that I should just pay using cash.

For me, loan only looks reasonable for the following three things:
1) Housing loan
2) Car loan
3) Educational loan
4) short term Medical loan

The rests are not reasonable at all. Why enjoy now on what you don't have and suffer later?
