hmmmm.. i got my citibank application rejected.. i would like to apply other cards.. which bank u all recommend?

i was thinking RHB or HSBC..
i prefer less strict ones as compared to citibank..
citibank call my office twice just to verify.. its quite irritating while my company is just a small company as we dunhave HR department.. so i pass the line to my colleague which is the accounts d`pmnt

I have payslips, degree, and letter of appointment
currently, i havent receive my EPF statements.

sry, couldnt help it but to reply this post. yes, i also have my ugly share of experience with this shitybank. i remember it was my first credit card application and they were heavily promoting which is why i gave it a try. also at the time i needed it to book flight ticket. in the end after 3 weeks of waiting, called to found out i got rejected, for no valid reason. the salesman who attended my application told me maybe its because my record is too clean as i do not have any loan at that time.

i submitted whatever documents they needed, epf statement, payslip, bank statement etc etc. heck, 2 yrs of working and my annual income is even higher than the requirement of the card i was applying. this is not strict, its what i call ridiculous and its banned in my book for personal reason. besides, the branches is limited, hassle to drive all the way there...bleh...

imagine those with debts and still be burdened with another extra RM50 so-called tax. anyway, i was thinking, most probably Maybank will not absorbs the tax because ppl will still apply credit card with them as they have many many branches and ATMs all over malaysia. speaking of conveniences for the ppl both at urban and rural places.

Thanks bro... seems like it will take some time... and my TP redemption still not yet processed sad.gif
Should I cancel my card now? I hope by the time they process my card cancellation, I already for my redemption...
*
been to 1u maybank c.center and made redemption. they said termination of my card can be done there at anytime once i have settled the balance and it wont affect the redemption.

i was thinking, lets say if we being ignorant and wouldnt mind paying the sales and service tax of RM50, in which resulted good revenue for the government. so, whats stopping them from increasing it the following year or maybe few years later? well, that is just my own thinking.

We can view the generic CIMB Bank credit card transactions on cimbclicks. I guess for Direct Access you will need to go into their branch to ask them to manually add into your cimbclicks ?
*
mmm yea, i will call them tomorrow morning. thanks mate smile.gif

what i believe is, if you settle the balance on the spot can make the cutting process faster and firmed by going to branch.

CIMB Infinite Visa is free for life. For SCB, as long as you are using your card enough for that particular year, an annual fee waiver I think should not be a problem (by request).
*
QUOTE(winner @ Dec 17 2009, 09:01 AM)
It was (/is) FOC for first year. But I am not sure whether SCB still issues normal VI to those who are not PB customers. AF waiver request for second year onwards is however subject to the bank's approval.
It still doesn't solve the dilemma. You only delay the decision on cc cancellation. However, it does help to a certain extent. For instance, some Amex cardholders may consider to cancel their cards when the 15% cash back promotion ends in Feb 2010 or after they receive their cash back entitlement, if their card anniversary months fall after the promotion period.

On a different note, you must be very HAPPY with your so-called ANTICIPATED NO LESS THAN 9% RETURN? biggrin.gif Anyway, you should consider yourself LUCKY. tongue.gif
*
hey thanks very much for the replies, yea, i was searching thru the net and found some other forumers also said its free for the first year for both in msia and spore. tempted to apply but i'll see first what are news with the tax when i come back.

QUOTE(tgeoklin @ Dec 18 2009, 08:52 AM)
I will be cutting all my maybank credit cards and even my Amex since its Maybank related as well, as not doing so will also contravene my sense of intelligence since I am already paying a whole lot of tax to the existing govt as of now. And this goes for all govt linked banks as well. Can't wait to see how many of their existing 1.6M members will be stupid enough to pay, notwithstanding their crappy services  laugh.gif

And will probably get myself a debit card, most definitely not from Maybank, so in the end I will be left with my SCB & HSBC and maybe next year will get an Amex from overseas just for emergency  tongue.gif

I have been informed by my CRM in SCB & HSBC that they will pay the RM50 on my behalf. This is a on a case to case basis and as such its a no brainer why I choose to use their cards. Basically its a win win situation since I give them profits by using their cards, its the least they can do to absorb the @##$ tax
*
hey i like your thinking! yea the way they deliver the message is really really arrogant. how could there is no 'much' decline after so many ppl has already cut their 'extra' mbb cards. that is why i closed my saving account with them and had terminated my only mbb cc too.

QUOTE
Asked if the bank was seeing any reduction in the number of credit-card holders, Lim Hong Tat, Maybank's head of consumer banking said, "Not much reduction has been seen." He added that it was "still within control" and that the impact would become clearer in the next few months.

Not just that ... not everybody read this forum. The general public would be happy with the piece of plastic that they own therefore not likely to hop around credit card like the folks here. I can't blame MBB's CEO for saying what he did, I mean even EON Bank published something similar. If you are the employee of that bank, you can't be giving out bad impression of your bank right ?
*
yup, i agree with you. but the way the Maybank's head of consumer banking delivered the message i cant say its good impression either, or maybe just me.
