How long does it take from approval till receival of card if i apply by walk in?
*
It is very subjective, depending on efficiency of banks. It could be within a week, weeks, or even months.

Based on my most recent experience, I received Citibank cc in 3 days, Alliance and SCB in 2 weeks and Amex in 1 month.

Pardon my ignorance but what's a "Citibank Youth Card" ?
*
Citibank no longer issues youth Blue Card which was well received in the early 2000s. It has been replaced with Clear Card.

I have 20K+ treatpoints with my MBB Classic Master card
And some on my MBB Petronas Gold card.
I feel like terminating the Classic master card, so will the treatpoints be burnt?
PLease advice.
thanks
*
As long as both cards are under MBB and given TPs, all the TPs can be combined for gift redemption. It is however advisable that you should request the bank to transfer the TPs of the cc you wish to terminate to another cc prior to cancellation of the card.

I notice that e-statement of Citibank in pdf format has got a lower resolution since last month. I actually prefer this way. However, next month's statement will be the last e-statement I receive from Citibank (at least for the time being) as I have just terminated my Citi Plat cc for the purpose of consolidating my existing CCs. brows.gif

anyone encountered any illegal usage of credit/disputes amt, what is the process or go about it? do u need to pay for the dispute amt or the bank will temporary hold the dispute amt until further investigations
*
You need to report to the bank first and follow the instruction given by the bank (some banks may require police reports). You needn't pay anything. If the bank insists asking you to compensate, you can refer to Page 1 of this thread: BNM issued guidelines in 2003 that limits consumer liability in cases of fraud to only RM250.

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Oct 16 2009, 10:53 AM)
I experienced 2 encounters of fraud cases on my Citibank CC.  Upon it happening, Citibank suspended my CC account (in the meantime, issuing me a new card with a new number).
*
Were you asked to pay a card replacement fee of RM50?

Anyone using StanChart Platinum Master and Visa? Just received my first month bills and its good to see they give you RM100 credit upon activation. Not sure its for both or one card.
*
Yes, SCB is such a Santa Claus, giving away RM100 and RM50 to new Plat and Gold cardholders respectively. tongue.gif A welcome gift in form of cash rebate is absolutely better than those cheap and low quality gifts.

Citibank does not charge commission for outstation cheque.

Commission charges are no longer applicable to outstation cheques for ALL BANKS under the new CTCS system.

*
Did you mean that your application was successful 2 months ago and you used your cc online but the physical cc has not arrived yet? That sounds weird. The cc must have been missing somewhere. You may contact the bank immediately.

how do u know your cc last 3 digits for online use when u have not receive it ?
*
It doesn't require 3-digit security number for SCB online bill payments, such as telco and utility bills, quit rent, assessment, etc. You can choose to make the payment via cc, current or savings account. What you need is to register the bill online and a transaction pin will be sent to your mobile phone.

For now, i using AMEX as the SCB cc benefit not tempting enough for me to use as retail transaction.
*
Benefits of SCB Plat cc aren't that great. It's just a normal cc giving you 1x point for every RM1 spent and no cash rebate is given. However, if you use it for overseas transactions, you'll be given 3x choice points instead.

QUOTE(Chester @ Oct 18 2009, 09:00 AM)
is there annual fee for scb plat? how much is the req? im getting a scb but dono gold/plat, apply together when i apply their mortgage one..
*
Its requirement for Plat cc is one of the lowest among all the card issuers in Malaysia. It only requires an annual income of RM60k if I am not mistaken. A few weeks ago, somebody here informed that he managed to get an SCB Plat cc with a CL of RM43k while having a monthly income of RM3k only!

It would be better to sign up Plat cc because it will give you an instant cash back of RM100 upon approval, compared to RM50 given to new Gold cc.

I applied for Amex Gold credit card and approved.... but they gave me another Maybank Mastercard platinum that I did not apply for.

Annual fee is RM550 but before, I am having Mastercard Gold.

I wonder why don't they offer me Visa Platinum lagi baik...
*
Congratulations and you can enjoy using Amex gold cc FINALLY. biggrin.gif

MBB is famous for sending pre-approved cards to customers. I made a 1-month FD placement with MBB a few months ago for SUKUK, ASW and ASM reserve purpose, and MBB immediately sent me a pre-approved Amex gold charge card. I called and requested MBB to cancel the card, but the CS officer persuaded me to keep the charge card in my wallet, informing that I could get a laptop bag by charging RM50 only and I could terminate the card later on. After charging RM50 and receiving the laptop bag, I cancelled the charge card without hesitation. 2 months later, I applied for Amex gold cc personally as the benefits are much better than the charge card.

It is stated in a 1-page simple agreement form (attached with application form), that all SCB CCs are given 1st AF waiver.

It doesn't matter whether it is free for 1 or 2 years. For me, I wanna make sure that my cards are ALWAYS FOC throughout the period of usage. biggrin.gif

hmm.gif that means if your monthly spending is less than RM2551, you're better off with 2X points huh
*
For Alliance cc, you get cash rebate and earn reward points simultaneously. 1x point for every RM1 spent locally. If you have Alliance Plat cc, you'll get 2x points for RM1 spent in overseas. Therefore, if your spend less than RM2551 monthly, say RM2550 using Alliance Plat cc, your total cash rebates (including points translated to cash back) for every RM1 spent locally and overseas should be >1.2%and >1.6% respectively. If you spend up to RM5k like what I did last month, the actual total rebate rates are even higher at approximately 1.8% local and 2.2% overseas.

Younique same with Alliance Bank Gold card.
*
Cash rebate rate for Alliance Younique is much higher than the conventional Alliance Gold cc. In fact, Younique MC's rebate is only slightly lower than Alliance Plat cc, on par with the latter in general.

QUOTE(andrekua @ Oct 21 2009, 06:21 PM)
I called and verify with the CS already. I have however cancelled the card because the statement is not good. I cant really remember how much I spend on what and therefore always felt the rebate is somewhat low. I prefer Citibank way of accumulating till RM25 and then give it all in one go. Now I kinda prefer SCB Plat which gives the rebate straight away instead of having to accumulate it or bring to next month.
*
If I am not mistaken, Citibank cash back cc only gives a flat rebate rate of 0.5% if you don't carry forward outstanding balance. Besides, no reward points are given.

As for SCB cc, I know only Just1 Titanium MC and SCB Business Plat cc give cash rebates. Were you referring to SCB Business Plat cc anyway?

Gosh! I am now in Changi Airport and receive this bad news!

It's time to really look into my CCs and consolidate them. I may reduce the number of CCs to 2 in December. Out of the 5 CCs I have right now, the first to be cut are SCB VI (seldom use it) and Amex Gold cc (not widely accepted, although I could get 5x points for groceries and petrol pruchases). 1 VISA and 1 MC are enough for me.

You could probably just do with either or, I don't think there're actually places that accept on Visa or MC anymore, not that I've come across anyways
Don't think they're really doing this to collect money. They just want to prevent ppl from having to much exposure.
*
Not up to that extent yet. VISA and MC will still be widely accepted in Malaysia. Although I don't like this stupid policy, it doesn't affect me much as I will only keep 2 CCs (1 MC & 1 VISA from different banks). Even if most merchants in Malaysia are reluctant to accept CCs, I can still use them in overseas. The cash rebates I receive in a month is already in excess of the RM50 yearly service tax. This stupid policy does not really aim at curbing consumer spending, it is in fact one of the direct income to the government in order to reduce the HUGE budget deficit or use the money to benefit MINORITY group. mad.gif
