EON Bank lowers credit-card receivables target

KUALA LUMPUR: EON Bank Bhd aims to achieve 10% to 15% growth for its credit card receivables next year from the expected RM1.4bil receivables this year.

Group chief executive officer Michael Lor said the target growth was lower than the 18% goal this year as the bank expected the market conditions to have some impact on its credit card business.

“There has been significantly fewer credit card applications. However, we will still be able to maintain double-digit growth next year with our strong proposition,” he said after the prize-giving ceremony for EON Bank’s recent The Storm Warriors movie premiere contest.

The bank plans next year to launch another credit card with shopping features. It is looking at 750,000 cards in circulation next year from 660,000 cards currently.

Which bank do you keep your money?
Just show them the bank statement. If they don't offer you, go to another.

i was thinking, lets say if we being ignorant and wouldnt mind paying the sales and service tax of RM50, in which resulted good revenue for the government. so, whats stopping them from increasing it the following year or maybe few years later? well, that is just my own thinking.

Should be no less than 7% per annum, based on the dividend declared in the last 10 years. Bonus in not included yet.

Someone from Maybank and CIMB Bank did approach me and my mom before, when we went to collect our newly approved credit cards last time. I think they told us the rate is fixed at 5%+ per annum. This was in early 2008 though.

During good times, getting dividend of 7%-8% is not uncommon. I don't think the dividend will be more than 7% this year! Let say the dividend is 6.5% and your mortgage rate is fixed at 5.0%, it should be a good bet for ASB solely given to Bumipteras as you can just sit and wait for the extra income without giving any upfront.

Actually even back in 97, the dividend declared was 10.25% + 1.25% bonus. Then in the following year, the dividend declared was 8% + 2.5% bonus.

2001, 2002 and 2008 registered the lowest dividend at only 7% but the bonus given in year 2001 and 2002 was higher compared to last year. But then, the balance in your account must be consistently the same over the last 10 years in order to get the whole bonus given. Overall, the return of ASB is on the declining trend cry.gif

Anyway, since most of the shares prices have rebounded, i assume the return won't be so bad and a total return of no less than 9% shouldn't be a dream. We shall find out next week smile.gif

As for the loan, i still have my reservation on the loan ... still not sure if it is a good idea to take up the offer. But then that is not something i need to worry about biggrin.gif

They should be able to offer you a credit card secured by FD. Come back and tell us how does it work for EON Bank.

9% this year? You must be dreaming! Just look at what you get for other AS products. If they really 9% for ASB this year, it will be too obvious that they purposely help the so called indigenous people.

You don't worry about the loan and I totally understand what you mean. biggrin.gif

Call in to Citibank to enquire about my card. I was too dissappointed with their call center. The verification process is taking way too long. Too stupid. I thought their CitiGold customer service is supposed to be better.

The process :-

Full Name? = OK
First they verify my IC number? - This is acceptable.
Date of Birth? = OK <--- This step is totally useless because I've already verified my IC number!!!!!
Your last transaction? = OK
How many cards you have with Citibank? = ONE
How many supplementary cards do you have? = ANOTHER STUPID QUESTION Repeated question!!!
Your last transaction place? = STUCKED!! I've totally forgot where I've used my card. I've remember using it in Pavilion but the agent there asked 'Okay, which shop you use it? OMG I was about to slammed the phone vmad.gif After I skip this step, the agent then proceed to ask me OTHER questions to replace this one instead.
Did you use your card to pump petrol?? - I said yes
Which petrol station? - I tell myself if you asked one question, I will swear at the damn phone sweat.gif

Next time if this happen again, I will reply sarcastically "Do you remember what you eat last week?" cool2.gif

How do you remember? We've got alot of things in life to do..and they expect us to remember every damn transaction?
Basic verification questions is acceptable but this is getting ridiculous vmad.gif I wonder whose the person in-charge in their CitiGold telebanking department. doh.gif Apart from that, overall service is still OK as their agent is quite polite also smile.gif

Suggestion : Improve the telebaking process Citibank! Dialing in, we've already pressing so many numbers to speak to an agent. If time is still wasted on this kinda verifying process, its truly a let down. Maybe it's for security purposes but we are busy people. doh.gif ASK SOME ACCURATE AND RELEVANT QUESTIONS. Sorry for my rant members. tongue.gif

We can view the generic CIMB Bank credit card transactions on cimbclicks. I guess for Direct Access you will need to go into their branch to ask them to manually add into your cimbclicks ?

Just received my Citibank Shell card statement. Now I know how their rebate system works. The amount of accumulated rebate that can be cleared from your account depends on the amount of Shell fuel you pump. So I got RM50 rebate in it, but I tried pumping RM5 shell, all I get is RM5 rebate cleared. The rest still aint cleared. Sucks as Shell RON95 is the worst among them all. Looks like the timing is right as just confirmed to switch my Alliance Bank Gold card to Younique and therefore can cancel my Citibank card tomorrow. Thanks you Citi for all the rebates and discount that I enjoyed during the 1 1/2 years.

A word of caution on Alliance Younique. I tried calling their CS many times one day and never got through. Worst they put you on hold long enough (and running up your call charges) and then cut you off automatically. So I send them an email saying i can't contact them but they hasn't reply. Furthermore, they don't work 24/7.

Bottom line. If you are overseas and need to call their CS for urgent matter, good luck to you.

The only thing good is their rebates. They have crystal clear rebate tier system and you know exactly what you will get. Unlike others like RHB Travel Money nowadays and your citi. And unlike AMEX, accepted everywhere because it is a MC.

Another thing about citi. I have extremely bad experience with them. They will charge you late payment fee when there are no late payment. Every month!
