regarding this rm50 service tax thingy,

it will be charged into the cc account on 1/1/2010 or at our annual card cycle ?

Just potong my Citibank card. As usual, they tried to convince me otherwise but luckily the force is strong with me.

Maybank - no chance at all - their hotline is constantly busy. Makes me appreciate the prompt and friendly service I get from HSBC.

agree too... initially CIMB / DA gave 10% rebate on books bought at MPH, but later they withdrew it. I'm wondering whether they will continue the 2% petrol rebate start from 2010.

if im not mistaken, standard chartered gold and classic if applied will get back rebate of RM50.

Initial 10% rebate on every sunday, now 5% rebate on everyday, until 31 Dec 2010.

That is just one of the small part.

Most banks require a cooling-off period before you can reapply for cc from them.
If your monthly expense is RM1000, both cards will give you more or less the same rebate. For instance, if you use Alliance Younique for spending of RM1000 per month, you will receive a rebate of RM6 which is 0.6% in proportion to the tier rebate rates. If you add the reward points from Alliance which is equivalent to about 0.42%, the total rebate for the RM1000 spent is 1.02% and is similar to the 1% rebate offered by HLB Essential. However, only transaction costing more than RM50 will be entitled to the 1% rebate from HLB Essential, whereas you can get rebate for any amount spent from Alliance Younique. Meanwhile, HLB's CS officers are somehow more responsive and experienced than Alliance's staff.
It is the second week of December already and it looks like banks are waiting for each other to take action. I have to cut 2 cards by end of this week.

If i'm not mistaken, Hong Leong Bank has done away with the minimum RM50 swipe in order to be eligible for the 1% rebate during the relaunch a few weeks back.

Has just got RHB travel money credit card approved. Anyone know how long it will take to arrive? Will they send by post laju?

Anyone might to share out some ideas, tot of restructure the credit card profiles. try to get bank to increase my credit limit as well.

..i faxed letter cancelling my OCBC card, they replied almost immediately (less than 1 week) via letter, no pujuk-pujuk one...

Can we cancel maybank CC over phone?

just a little experience i want to share regarding apply cc with alliance. I was contacted by bank cc agent and i emailed all documents he requested. 2 weeks later, i called the bank and checked my application status. it was still pending. then i called the agent and he said the cc department said that 'i told' them my salary was paid by cash and requested my epf statement, while i have shown the agent my payment slip and bank statement, somemore i never received any call from bank, not saying I TOLD them. who the hell did they talk to?
and then my application is rejected....thats it....nothing more to say about alliance...

It is the agent's fault obviously - maybe too eager to fulfill application quota. Always remember that in most cases (and especially if you are a new card applicant without reference credit card), you have to submit all documents that the bank wants to get approval. Short cuts would not guarantee approval.

And cc agent are not necessarily the bank's staff as most banks outsource their credit card marketing. Never be too gullible with a cc agent.

Not to jump to conclusions ... the email that you were asked to send your application to ... what was the address after the @ sign ? Would it be the official bank's domain or some web mail address ?

the email is that agent's personal mail. that agent is from alliance, i called alliance said i want to apply their cc and they sent this agent to me. i think my documents are alright, 3 months slip, everything clear, the amount of salary bank in to my account is so easy to read, i just don't understand why they would make such a funny mistake and even claimed it was me who told them...might say i have amnesia next time.

Actually even back in 97, the dividend declared was 10.25% + 1.25% bonus. Then in the following year, the dividend declared was 8% + 2.5% bonus.

2001, 2002 and 2008 registered the lowest dividend at only 7% but the bonus given in year 2001 and 2002 was higher compared to last year. But then, the balance in your account must be consistently the same over the last 10 years in order to get the whole bonus given. Overall, the return of ASB is on the declining trend   

Anyway, since most of the shares prices have rebounded, i assume the return won't be so bad and a total return of no less than 9% shouldn't be a dream. We shall find out next week 

Just received my Citibank Shell card statement. Now I know how their rebate system works. The amount of accumulated rebate that can be cleared from your account depends on the amount of Shell fuel you pump. So I got RM50 rebate in it, but I tried pumping RM5 shell, all I get is RM5 rebate cleared. The rest still aint cleared. Sucks as Shell RON95 is the worst among them all. Looks like the timing is right as just confirmed to switch my Alliance Bank Gold card to Younique and therefore can cancel my Citibank card tomorrow. Thanks you Citi for all the rebates and discount that I enjoyed during the 1 1/2 years.

A word of caution on Alliance Younique. I tried calling their CS many times one day and never got through. Worst they put you on hold long enough (and running up your call charges) and then cut you off automatically. So I send them an email saying i can't contact them but they hasn't reply. Furthermore, they don't work 24/7.

Bottom line. If you are overseas and need to call their CS for urgent matter, good luck to you.

The only thing good is their rebates. They have crystal clear rebate tier system and you know exactly what you will get. Unlike others like RHB Travel Money nowadays and your citi. And unlike AMEX, accepted everywhere because it is a MC.

Another thing about citi. I have extremely bad experience with them. They will charge you late payment fee when there are no late payment. Every month!

Want to ask how to print or get credit report from BNM - Bank Negara Malaysia? Must go all the way there to print it  out?

Is there another way for us to check our credit status without having to go all the way to Bank Negara? I just want to make sure that I don't have any credit cards under my name that I'm not aware of. One of my friend had cancelled her credit card but this was not updated by the respective bank. She was subsequently blacklisted for her overdue charges ... She only found out about the uncancelled credit cards after going to Bank Negara to check her status.

If I charge a retail transaction of RM100, do I get 2 entries or 1 entry ?

How about the Ikhwan cards under Maybank Islamic? Can qualify for the contest also? Coz they say there only for Maybankard customers. Should be eligible also right?

Hi all,

I'm planning to cancel my Alliance credit cards. Just wanna ask:

1. can I go to any Alliance branch (or their concept store at Sunway Pyramid) and they will cut up the cards for me?

2. will they give me a recepit confirming the cards have been cancelled? Or do I have to call them to confirm 1-2 weeks later?

*I don't owe Alliance any money - I haven't even used the cards 

So.... Despite almost everyone here cutting their credit cards. I would just like to ask, if I were to get a credit card now, just one. Would getting a CIMB petronas gold be a good choice? Has anyone encountered any problems with CIMB?

Question :

1) If card got outstanding balance, Can we cancel the card?
2) Usually, how do you cancel the cards? Phone, fax or branch?
